On May 5, Quinten and Marian Ward donated a bust entitled “Black Horse Navajo Chief” to the Virgin Valley Heritage Museum.  The Ward children—Dianne and Dave, and Dave’s wife Mary—presented the bust to Mayor Al Litman on their parents’ behalf.  The Wards acquired the bust approximately ten years ago at a local art auction.  Recently, the Wards moved from Mesquite; however, they felt that the bust should remain in Mesquite in order to give residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy the work.  A heartfelt thank you to the Ward family for their generosity that can be enjoyed by all.  The piece is on display at the Museum for the public to enjoy.

Quinten and Marian Ward moved to Mesquite in 1998.  Prior to that, they lived in Las Vegas, Nevada and Kentwood, Michigan.

Sculptor John F. Prazen worked mainly in bronze.  His studio was located in Mesquite on Riverside Road, but his work was well-known throughout southern Utah and Nevada.  He was married to the late Carol Ellen Foote.  He passed away on May 6, 2003.

For more information about the donation and the Museum, find us on Facebook at MesquiteNVMuseum or stop by the Museum at 35 W. Mesquite Blvd.  The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
