The Student Art Month exhibition is featured at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery through May 30. Artistic creations by students from Virgin Valley Elementary School, JL Bowler Elementary, Hughes Middle School, and Virgin Valley High School fill gallery walls, top to bottom. A special display of ceramics by the students from Rancho High School, Las Vegas, is highlighted in the Mesa Room of the Gallery.
The high school artists will be honored at a public reception on Saturday, May 23, 1-3 p.m. The public receptions congratulate the young people for their art education achievements and honor parents and teachers for their commitment to the future.
The student art exhibition is sponsored by the Eureka Community Foundation, and is organized by gallery operator, Virgin Valley Artists Association (VVAA). The Eureka Casino Resort supports local cultural and educational activities, including Mesquite Reads, through its foundation. VVAA is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Its 200 members volunteer their time and talents to promote the power of the arts. VVAA offers free art classes for students ages 8-15, and awards scholarships to outstanding high school seniors who incorporate art studies in their post-high school education.
