The “big show” most looked forward to by the Mesquite Arts Council is the annual “Concert on the Grass.” Planners, architects, and city leaders were wise when they designed and landscaped a perfect amphitheater in front of Mesquite City Hall. As can be seen in the above photo, the setting is unique and magical. It has long been a favorite venue for performers and audiences who love the thrill of a small town atmosphere packed with big town talent. The performers are always the best, the show is always something special and unexpected, and the fresh evening open air is surely the best reminder of why we love Mesquite. In the past we have featured professional bands, talent shows, quality dance teams, western groups, local songwriters, and professional singers. This year’s master of ceremonies, Blair Adams, will introduce one of his personal favorite groups; an outstanding musical group called the Calvary Chapel Band, featuring the talents of Tom Brooks, Kenny, Anita, and friends. They were the surprise hit of our Christmas Tree Festival three years ago and the Mesquite Arts Council have prevailed upon them for a return full concert performance.
Bring your blankets and kids and come prepared to find a spot on the grass, or get there early enough to get a seat in one of the many chairs provided by the City. The show starts at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in front of Mesquite City Hall, 10 E. Mesquite Boulevard is the location. Remember, it’s free, it’s real, and it’s spectacular.
