Honoring Those Who Serve
The Virgin Valley Heritage Museum is creating a wreath honoring those who have served or are serving in the military. In order to help build the wreath, the public is invited to come to the Museum and add a friend’s or family member’s name. The purpose of the wreath is to honor those past and present who have given so much. If you are unable to visit the Museum in person, you can call, email or contact the Museum on Facebook to submit a name. Ultimately, the finished wreath will be on display for Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Although simple, the intent is to serve as a reminder, lest we forget.
During the week leading up to Mother’s Day, the Museum will recognize mothers for the service that they provide. If you are a mother or know a mother who would like a treat, stop by the museum and pick up a small chocolate treat graciously donated by Danielle’s Chocolates and Popcorn.
For more information about this event and the Museum, find us on Facebook at MesquiteNVMuseum or stop by the Museum at 35 W. Mesquite Blvd. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Email names to email@example.com
What’s Churning at the Museum?
In the early days of the Virgin Valley, everything was either made, grown or produced by hand. Clothing, bricks, soap and cheese are just a few examples of the items that settlers had to make on their own. It used to be that if you could not grow it, make it or produce it, you would just go without. In an effort to better appreciate what life was like for the early settlers, the Virgin Valley Heritage Museum will host a butter churning demonstration on May 16 from 10-11 a.m.
This family-friendly activity will show how butter is churned and give participants an opportunity to learn about the various ways to preserve and flavor butter. Come join us and discover the taste of freshly churned butter.
Diana Coonradt, a talented local artist and instructor, will lead the activity. The Museum sincerely appreciates Diana taking time out of busy schedule to share this wonderful skill.
