The Mesquite Challenge was held at the Falcon Ridge Golf Course Monday, April 6. 20 teams braved the gusty weather and surprisingly enough, several handled the conditions very well, as only 1 ½ strokes separated the top five teams.

The winning team of Art Kalivas and Brent Arndt nosed out the second place team of Ridge Larsen and Gordie Anderson by a whopping .12 of a stroke. The third place team was Andrew Yeh and Dave Jordon; fourth place went to Doug Lund and Dave Calmelat while Pete Donley and Greg Sullivan finished in fifth.

After checking the score cards, it wasn’t hard to see where each team in contention missed placing higher. “I’m sure they would like to play those holes over again,” said Jim Buttler.

Closest to the pin winners were Ray Sweat on hole #2, Lee Sweat on #5, Keith Mullins on #8, Justin Hughes for hole #14 and Scott Jones on #17.

“Congrats to Brent and Art for their win and many thanks to all the players that came out in the tough weather to play. And, as always, thanks to Brian Wursten and his staff at FRGC for taking care of our golfing needs!” added Buttler.

The next round for the Mesquite Challenge is slated for sometime in October. For more information, contact Wursten at 702-346-6363.
