The first of several scheduled bike racing events will begin this weekend, starting with the Mesquite Senior Games competition at the Mesquite Sports and Events Complex (MSEC) on Friday, April 10 at 9 a.m. Registration for the event will begin at 7:30 a.m. and all further info is available at www.mesquiteseniorgames.com.

On Saturday morning, the Stage Race time trial will begin at 8 a.m. at Championship Way (MSEC) while a ‘Criterium’ race will begin at noon and will be held in the downtown neighborhood around the Library and Recreation Center. The start and finish line will be in front of the Mesquite Community Theatre at 170 N. Yucca. This event will be the most ‘spectator friendly’ and will begin with heats of racers in various age categories competing.

On Sunday, the final ‘stage’ of the races will be held starting at 7 a.m., with racers leaving from Virgin Valley High School and heading out Old Highway 91 all the way to Utah Hill. Racers will compete in 45 and 60 mile events. The 45-mile event will begin at 7 a.m. and the 60-mile event will begin at 7:30 a.m. All competitors will follow the rules set forth by the USA Cycling Rulebook. Maps of all of the events can be found online at www.mesquitelocalnews.com with this article and further information/registration can be found at www.racedayeventmanagement.com.
