The Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery offers an abundance of beautiful art and bargains this month.

Artist of the Month Judith Hetem shows complex simplicity in her art.

Juanita Becker and Nancy Lamb teamed up to fill a 4×8 gallery wall.

Mike Fletcher’s two massive abstracts fill his 4×8 wall.

Patricia Nay’s unique polymer clay creations have a 3-D surface.

The featured display is a “multi-exhibition” of work by members of Virgin Valley Artist Association.  Artists show as many samples of their art as they can fit in 4’ x 8’ spaces. The show, bearing that “4 x 8” dimensional name, is an annual favorite for gallery visitors because of the wide variety of original art and the “floor to ceiling” visual feast that greets the eye on entering the Gallery at 15 West Mesquite Blvd, Mesquite, Nevada. The public is invited to view the art through March 28, and meet the artists at a free reception Thursday, March 19, 4 – 6 p.m.

Also through March, a stunning grouping of paintings and ceramics by Judith Hetem highlights the Gallery’s Mesa Room, as she is honored as VVAA’s “Artist of the Month.”  Judith is the designer of the colorful utility box art collection and other external murals that surround the gallery. Her artistic impact on the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery has been significant.

On Saturday, March 14, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., the artists hold their annual “Art in the Yard Sale,” which combines artist booths and a lively yard sale in a festive spring event. The art center plaza and classroom will come alive that morning with art, music, and other surprises.

VVAA art classes and workshops are open for drop-ins and advance enrollees during March.

Katherine Cole teaches a jewelry workshop on construction of a “treasure necklace” on Friday, March 20, 12 – 3 p.m. Advance enrollment is needed for her workshop; $20 fee paid to instructor on day of class. A full list of other weekly drawing, painting and pottery classes is posted at the gallery front desk, or can be found online at
