Wednesday’s GAS Club was an 18-hole tournament at Falcon Ridge Golf Course and resulted in a milestone in the group’s team play history.

For the first time, there was a tie for the first place winners between two four-man teams playing a three-best-ball format for each hole. Both teams finished with a 197 net.

“We should have seen this coming,” said Jim Buttler. “The scores are getting closer and closer through the year.”

The first team taking the winnings was of John Meyer, Gary Slater, Rich Duester and Alex Churchich. The second team tying for the win was Aaron Kinnard, Dave Calmelat, Ron Vedd and Buttler, himself.

There were five closest to the pin winners Wednesday, with two for Vedd on holes #2 and #17, one for Churchich on hole #5, Bill Losh on hole #8 and Meyer on hole #14.

There were ten skins reported for the day: Doug Lund on hole #15, Andrew Yeh, Jeff Lund (2), Slater, Churchich and Buttler. Duester took home the special ‘Skin of the Day’ award for his eagle shot on the par-five 16th hole.

“The Mesquite Challenge at Falcon Ridge is now full for Monday, January 19,” said Buttler. “Any players wishing to join the tournament can do so in March.”
