MLN-Obitsept18-14Don Muse passed away on September 13, 2014. He lived a long, happy and productive life.  Don loved people. He never met a stranger and always had a smile, a story or two and a wonderful sense of humor.

Don spent many years working as a member of the Senior Executive Service of the Federal Government before retiring at age 55. Don and Linda moved to Mesquite in late 1998 and he loved living in this wonderful community. Don involved himself in many activities such as with the Mesquite Boxing Club, the Community Garden, the Veterans Center, Elks Club, and the Exchange Club. Don delighted in being Santa to two very special kids.  He took great pleasure in helping others.

Don was a Navy veteran. He spent 2004-2005 in Iraq as an independent contractor. He loved our great country and wanted to do his part in the war on terror. Don procured and draped the large flag on one wall of the Rec Center building for One Thousand Flags over Mesquite. He was proud of this project.

Don loved his dogs, taking them for countless desert walks, and he enjoyed the foster dogs that spent time at his home until adoption. As an avid reader, he enthusiastically raised funds for the Virgin Valley Elementary School Reading program. He absolutely loved this project.

In Don’s memory, donations are welcomed to the Virgin Valley Elementary School Reading program, c/o Gerri Chasko, Eureka Casino, 275 Mesa Blvd., Mesquite NV 89027, or to We Care for Animals, P.O. Box 3028, Mesquite NV 89024.

Don is survived by Linda, his wife of 43 years; his daughter, Kim; son-in-law, Gary; grandchildren, Kellie and Christopher; a sister; and nieces and nephews.  We will miss Don’s warm smile, enthusiasm, his sense of humor, his presence.

Friends of Don are welcomed to gather at the Seasons Lounge in the Eureka Casino, 275 Mesa Blvd on Thursday, September 25, 2014 between 3-5 p.m. Wine and light refreshments will be served.
