The GAS Club tournament on Monday, August 25 was complicated a great deal by the high winds in the area, giving players a challenge. Organizers tried to help them out by using a Team Shamble with one score on par fives, two scores on par fours and three scores on the par threes.

The winning team turned in a score of 69, lead by Clark Mitchell who personally had a 35, winning the low net prize money. Mitchell was joined in victory with Doug Lund, Ray Sweat and Bill Losh, someone who has a reputation of being in the winning team week after week.

Closest to the pin awards went to Ben Bishop for hole #2, Ron Nickle on hole #5 and Gary Bartlett, the ‘pro mixologist’ on hole #8.

Only one skin was awarded for the day, to Clark Mitchell, who scored the only birdie for the day on hole #3.

Wednesday, August 27, took on a different kind of form with a two-best-ball team event format, which the players seem to work better with, according to Jim Buttler.

The winning team of Rich Duester, Larry Mierisch, Alex Churchich and Jim Buttler won by only a single stroke.

Closest to the pin winners were all in the final group; Ron Nickle on holes #5 and #17, John Johnson on holes #2 and #14 and Clark Mitchell on hole #8. Jim Buttler attempted to joined the group of winners, but flubbed up his score on hole #2 with a three-putt turn in.

Five skins were awarded Wednesday, one each to Larry Mierisch, Ron Nickle, Alex Churchich, John Johnson and Jim Buttler.
