The Monday, June 23 skins game was a hot one in several ways, but the most evident being the temperature, being at 105 degrees and the carry: skin monies from two weeks ago brought all the players out to show off their skills.
With the teams racking up double birdies on four of the nine holes it would seem to be another carry-over skins game, but not for long. Clark Mitchell, having a birdie on the easiest par 4 on the course (#3), walked with the pot from both weeks. The club didn’t let him escape without buying a libation for those that needed a little extra cooling off.
The team event winners in the ‘one, two, and three’ format was loaded up with players that get-er-done in these games: Alex Churchich, Mike Moreau, Larry Mierisch and who else but Bill Losh, who won by three shots over the second place team.
Low net was won by Dave Calmelat after shooting even par to top Mike Moreau by a single shot.
The closest to the pins were won by John Meyer on hole #2, Gary Bartlett on hole #5 and Stan Nickle on hole #8. Gary Bartlett’s shot on hole #5 finished just a few inches short of the hole for an easy birdie, direct on line. Just a few more rolls and we all would have had a grand time in the clubhouse after.
