oasis golfThe Oasis Golf Club is bringing back the laughs in competitive team golf tournaments this Fall on the Canyons Golf Course by hosting its 1st Annual “Wide Open” Challenge tourney.

Unique to this tournament will be a subtle change on the putting green.  For the first time ever in Mesquite, Oasis will be conducting a two-person tournament using wider golf holes.  The pins themselves will be in some weird spots on the green—big slopes and tucked in corners.  With this in mind, three-putting disappears, chip-ins become a reality and pace of play will be a breeze.

The tournament is slated for Saturday, Oct. 10 with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Registration and the driving range open at 7:15 a.m.  Sign up in advance for the two-person Shamble by contacting the golf shop or by signing up online at www.theoasisgolfclub.com under the heading “Wide Open Challenge” on the homepage.

This new tournament is a kickoff to the fall golf season in Mesquite.  Tournament directors hope to have a full field of 50 teams (100 players) for this new event.  In addition to the wider cups, the tournament scoring will be based off of the Modified Stableford scoring system which rewards players who get birdies, eagles, and possible double eagles.

The “Wide Open” Challenge will feature tee gifts, situational prizes, gross and net payouts as well as a BBQ during announcement of the winners at the Oasis Grille Room.  Cost per player is $65 per player or $130 per team.  Signup is limited to the first 50 teams (100 players).  Deadline for signup is Thursday, Oct. 8.
