The Virgin Valley High School swim team delivered a standout performance at the Nevada State Swimming Championships in Las Vegas, highlighted by another historic showing from senior Kyra Jensen.

Jensen captured her third consecutive state championship in the girls 50 freestyle, cementing her legacy as one of the top swimmers in school history. She also repeated as state champion in the 100 freestyle, giving her back-to-back titles in that event.

The senior now owns three state championships in the 50 freestyle, two titles in the 100 freestyle and also won the 100 backstroke as a freshman.

Virgin Valley also received strong performances from Alya Andrade, who placed second in the butterfly and third in the individual medley.

On the boys side, Quade Griffiths earned fourth-place finishes in both the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle.

The Bulldogs also impressed in relay competition. The girls relay team of Jensen, Andrade, Brooke Zarate and Taylor Blazzard finished second in the 400 freestyle relay and fourth in the medley relay.

The boys relay team of Griffiths, Beau Garrett, Austin Pearson and Kole Garrett placed fourth in both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.

Virgin Valley’s 400 freestyle relay team of Pearson, Michael Pearce, Jackson Cunningham and Kole Garrett added an eighth-place finish at the state meet.

The Bulldogs’ collection of individual titles, relay podium finishes and top statewide placements capped another memorable season for the program.
