Jeremy Telford first exploded onto the Mesquite bowling scene early this season after throwing 30 strikes in a record-setting 813 series at the Virgin River Bowling Center.

Jeremy Telford

I know. You’re thinking he must have chucked another 800. No, but if a couple of 10 pins had fallen at the right time in a game your thinking would have been spot on.
So, instead he’s being featured because his lethal strike ball sent 10 pins flying after tattooing the 1-3 pocket for 12 strikes en route to a 300 game. And after adding games of 246 and 237, he racked up a monster 783 series with a total of 26 strikes.
Another amazing side note from his clean 783 set is a 4-7 leave in the 4th frame of his 246 put the kibosh on what otherwise would have been a jaw-dropping 9-pin no tap 900 series.
And from a historical perspective, with the 7th perfecto of his career, Telford now joins Scott Mattingly as the only two bowlers with both an 800 series and 300 game bowled at the VRBC.
After graduating from high school, he served on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and just celebrated his 22nd wedding anniversary in Miami, Florida with his wife, Autumn.
Away from bowling, he’s the Director of Finance for Tagg N Go Car Wash with locations in Utah, Idaho and Nevada.
Amazingly, Telford’s last three honor scores came while dealing with a torn meniscus. But he’s gonna have that baby taken care of with his 7th knee surgery scheduled for December 15th, 2023.
In other pin action, Duane Sullivan fired a season-high 726 and 279 game while raising his Wednesday Men’s League average to 200, and Milan Carr (728-258) continued his top-notch scoring production and his current 217.03 average is the second highest in the Wednesday Men’s League, and is also one of an amazing 27 averages of 200-plus.
Meanwhile, Dale Knight punched out a 676 with a 253 game two days ago in the Monday Scratch League, Dylan Kesl (666-257) is having a standout season, while Al Gans (655-258) has chalked up a ton of standout years in his career, and Bruce Holley (652-238) who bowled a 300 game during the Huntsman Games in St. George continues chasing his first in Mesquite.
Orlyn Meyer (652-237) merits ink for a strong effort after almost coming late for his Early Risers League play, and it is great seeing Ryan Baeza (638-236) and his smooth delivery back bowling after a lengthy hiatus from the sport.
And it’s looking like Dennis Craft (624-233) is working his way back to his sizzling early season scoring, and Nick Paul, fueled by clean games of 236 and 206 along with 19 total strikes and marks on 14-of-15 non-split spare attempts delivered his best outing in Kings & Queens League play, and here’s betting more will follow, while Jerry Holloway (617-236) good showing could serve as the launching pad for a string of 600s.
Miguel Soto (613-230) is back bowling again and with his powerful delivery is definitely capable of throwing some humongous scores, while Alan Jacobson  who’s dad was a podiatrist booked a 613 with a 227 game, and Bob Morgan, 90, is a nonagenarian who’s been able to slow the unrelenting passage of time resulting in a 608 series including a par of 226 and 208 deuce games
Nick Medina’s four strikes in a 217 game helped pave the way for his first 600 in at least three years in Early Risers League play, while Jacob Martinez (604-237 keeps pounding the 1-3 pocket with the rock for good scores, and Fred Emmons who worked at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut after a career in the U.S. Navy put together 16 total strikes and a clean 256 in a 601 set.
In single game scoring, Sal Diaz (619) had his devastating strike ball working and hammered out a 279, Jeremy Turlington uncorked a 278 gem en route to a standout 723 set, while Koa Paka Ned (636) and his powerful strike ball smacked a 252 and raise his City High Rollers League average to 206.
And it was great seeing Tony Arias who was a multi-sport athlete at Virgin Valley High School book a season-high 234, Russ Marshall checked in wiht a 233, while Beaver Dam’s Dan Johnson popped a 230 in T.G.I.F. League play, and Martin Carrillo is a man who loves the great game of baseball and logged a 225.
Meanwhile, Paul Buntin’s season-high 223 games which included a 5-bagger and only one open is testament to his improving two-handed delivery. And Buntin also played football in high school and is a huge hockey fan of the Colorado Avalanche, and more recently, the Vegas Golden Knights.
Jorge Munoz bagged a 223, Mark Brackelsberg who’s going to see the Minnesota Vikings play the Raiders in Sin City this weekend threw a 219, while Wally Posey raised his Early Risers League average to 181 after tossing a season-high 586 and 235 game, and Louis Dilisio nice games of 215 and 211 are little consolation the way his Philadelphia Eagles were totally crushed by the mighty San Francisco Giants this past Sunday.
And one of the highlights of the Men’s League on Wednesday was seeing Denton Dorn roll his first deuce of the season, a 214 which included a 5-bagger, and Chris Eyre’s improving game included his latest 200, a 211, while Monte Dibble snares his first ink since returning to the lanes after a bout with sciatica and registered a 208.
Ken Schloman’s 202 and 201 games led to a 596 series and raised his Early Risers League average to 179, and both James Austin and Logan Hendrick pocketed a 201.
In women’s play, Gayle Parison, fueled by 19 total strikes including a 7-bagger in a 226, and a clean 233, stunned even herself when she blew away her 153 average in setting the scoring pace last week with her first-ever 600 series, a 634 on games of 233, 226 and 175.
A huge Chicago Bears fan and superb poker player, her strong work ethic, self discipline and focus on getting the job done led to her being a moving force in a large health manufacturing company in Illinois where her multiple talents ranged from key roles in accounting, sales, and as a purchasing agent.
And without much fanfare, Kim Marshall’s 182 average in City High Rollers League should move higher after blistering the lanes with a 592 set on games of 213, 201 and 178, and Evelyn Hooley’s terrific 584 set including a 5-bagger in a 213, and along with a 203 and 168 which fell three pins shy of eclipsing a career-high 586.
Autumn Telford cranked out a 571 with a 210 game, Lynae Page’s (540-213) latest effort in the Ladies Trio League is the most recent in a growing list of good outings, while Bobbie Robbins (552-195) had her best outing in a month, and Charlene Heiden’s (529-190) solid outing will provide the needed motivation for her husband to deliver a good score next week, and Kerri Roberts (523-197) navigated the lanes in posting some solid scores. Incidentally, a trusted source mentioned Roberts was an outstanding volleyball player in both high school and college, as well as also being darn good at softball.
And Ladies Trio League bowler Marge Mongolo booked a 509 and 192 game and she is also an outstanding player in senior softball in Mesquite, and Kathy Bussman, the outstanding secretary of the T.G.I.F. League rolled three games of 160, 157, and 154 which were all above her 150 average and she also picked up a split in each game.
In single game action, Sandy Sheppard (591) booked a 223, Diane Marget (586) pocketed a 216, Bev Cormani (551) tallied a 215, and Danae Rivera tossed her first-ever 200 game, a 206 which included an impressive 4-bagger.
