Entering its 14th year of competition, the Mesquite Amateur is one of the largest handicapped amateur tournaments in the nation.
The Mesquite Amateur consists of a five-day 54-hole net stroke play tournament. Participants compete against a field of players with a similar handicap. There is also a practice round held on the first day of the event.
Finalist rankings will be determined by comparing the three-day cumulative score. The top four participants from each flight will complete in the 18-hole championship round at the CasaBlanca Golf Club on Friday, June 3.
The Virgin Valley Democrats are meeting on Wednesday, June 1. The guest speaker is scheduled to be John Oceguera, Candidate for Congressional District 4. Sign in starts at 5:30 and the meeting begins at 6 p.m.
The Knights of Columbus is holding its eighth annual golf tournament on May 28 at 7 a.m. at Falcon Ridge Golf Course, 1024 Normandy Lane.
The tournament will be a four-person scram/sham with great prizes awarded to teams placing first through fourth and closest to the pin. There will be a feature hole-in-one prize of a golf kart on the eighth hole.
There will be mulligans available for purchase. Limit has to be first 144 players to sign up so sign up as soon as possible. Cost is $75 per golfer. Individuals will be paired up into teams of four. Buffet is included.
