As a local, family-owned business, we care deeply about helping our clients finish the year strong, confident, and financially prepared for what’s next. We’ve been having some great conversations in our office with clients who are already thinking ahead. December might be full of holiday hustle, but it’s also one of the best times to take a step back and get a clear picture of where you stand financially and where you want to go next.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve met with clients who wanted to make sure they were set up for tax season, retirement contributions, and year-end giving. One couple told us they finally feel “ahead of the game” because they took time in December to get organized instead of waiting until spring. That’s exactly what we like to hear.

Take Stock Before the Year Ends

Before the ball drops in 2025, take a quick look at your income, expenses, and any big changes this year. Did you get a new job, purchase a home, or retire? Those moments all have tax implications, and a few small moves before December 31st, such as charitable donations or contributing to your IRA, can make a meaningful difference when you file your taxes in a few months.

Get Your Documents in Order

Gathering your W-2s, 1099s, and receipts now saves a lot of time later and helps ensure you don’t miss deductions you’ve earned.

Think Beyond Tax Season

We’ve also had several clients ask how to set goals for 2026 beyond just “getting the taxes done.” Whether it’s paying down debt, planning a family vacation, or taking the next step toward retirement, we believe financial planning isn’t just about numbers, it’s about creating more freedom to enjoy the things (and people) you love most.

Meet Before the Rush

If it’s been a while since your last review, now’s a great time to sit down and talk about your goals for the new year. The start of the year brings a sense of renewal, and it’s easier to plan when you’re not in the middle of tax season stress. A relaxed December conversation can set you up for a more confident, organized 2026.
