Mesquite PD chief terminated
Mesquite Police Department Chief MaQuade Chesley, who was on a leave pending an internal investigation, was relieved of his duties on Jan. 21.
City Manager Edward “Owen” Dickie issued the following statement:
“On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, MaQuade Chesley’s employment as the Chief of Police for the City of Mesquite was terminated. The City will have no further comment on this matter at this time.
The City will be searching for a new Chief and in the interim Captain Tracy Fails will be in charge of the department.”
The Mesquite Police Officers Association issued the following statement.
“The MPOA is pleased that the City of Mesquite has taken decisive action to put an end to MaQuade Chesley’s tenure as Police Chief. The MPOA has been advocating for this change for several months and is thankful that city leadership has now seen the harm that Chief Chesley has done to the department and its members.”
