CasaBlanca Resort and Casino Seeks Donors to Meet Patient Holiday Blood Needs

Dec. 10, 2024 – Mesquite, Nev. – Help ensure holiday patients have the lifesaving transfusions they require by donating at the CasaBlanca Resort and Casino blood drive on Sat., Dec. 21, 10 am – 2pm.

Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day are traditionally the lowest days of the year for blood donations. Mesquite blood donors will help provide lifesaving transfusions for holiday patients during the most critical days for the blood supply. Donors of all blood types, especially type O, are urgently needed. In an emergency, O-negative is crucial when there is not time to determine a patient’s blood type, and O-positive can help anyone with Rh-positive blood.

Mesquite blood donors will help save kids like 8-year-old Braden, who was diagnosed two years ago with leukemia.  During his 138-day stay in the hospital, he underwent chemotherapy, required more than 30 blood transfusions and was declared cancer on Thanksgiving Day.  Braden and his family are so thankful for all the heroes who donated blood and played a vital part in helping him to beat leukemia.

“The winter holiday season reduces the number of people giving blood, but heavy traffic on the roads and highways increases the potential for accidents and the need for blood,” emphasized Sid Lewis, Sr. Director of Donor Recruitment for Vitalant’s Southwest Division. “Mesquite residents can help prevent a blood shortage emergency during the lowest week of the year for donations by donating at the CasaBlanca Casino blood drive.”
