Junior Golf Program kicks off in June
The Virgin Valley Junior Golf Association kicks off its summer season with professional golf instruction, clinics and tournaments, discounted golf privileges and social play.
The VVJGA is open to all boys and girls between the ages of 6-18.
Junior golf starts June 4 with clinics at the CasaBlanca Course with three-weed sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m.
Tournament play is Tuesdays from June 25 through July 23 at 9 a.m. at Palms, CasaBlanca, Falcon Ridge, Conestoga and Oasis Golf Courses. A season-ending banquet is scheduled July 23 at the Mesquite Recreation Center.
A $50- membership and $10 per tournament. Used clubs will be provided to those who need them.
Register in person at the CasaBlanca pro shop, the Palms pro shop or the Mesquite Recreation Center. Registration is also available online at MesquiteNV.activityreg.com.

Swim lessons offered by Mesquite Recreation
Youth swim lessons for youths ages 18 months to 12 years old kick off with two-week sessions in June and July.
The two-week session are from June 17-27, July 8-18 and July 22-Aug. 1. There a five levels per session: Mommy and Me at 9:30 a.m., Levels 1-2 at 10:15 and Levels 3-4 at 11 a.m.
Cost is $80 for members and $90 for non-members. To accommodate more families, only one child per session is allowed.

The Mesquite Athletics and Leisure Services is also offering free swim lessons June 10-13 for ages 18 months to 4 years old.
Mommy and Me lessons are from 9:30 to 10 a.m., with two separate lessons for 2-4 year olds from 10:15-10:45 a.m. and 11-11:30 a.m.

Two sessions left for Prime Cheer Camp
Prime Cheer camp is intended for youths in kindergarten through fifth grade. It’s a fun way to stay active in the summer and learn cheer fundamentals.
Instruction will include an introduction to cheer and choreography, stunting, tumbling and some trampoline time. All campers will be under the instruction of Reina Vallejo and her staff.
Two-week camp sessions are June 24-25 and July 1-2; and July 15-16 and 22-23. Three to five year olds meet from 9-10 a.m., with kindergartners through second grade at 10:15-:1145 a.m. and third through five graders from 12:30-2 p.m. Cost is $50 for the 3-5 year olds and $60 for kindergartners through five grade.

Gym schedule announced
The Mesquite Recreation Center has announced its gym schedule.
Gym 1 (East Gym) is available for walking and basketball Monday-Saturday from 5 a.m. to close.
Gym 2 (West Gym) is open Monday-Friday for walking and basketball from 5-11 a.m. and then from 3 p.m. to close. From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., all levels of pickleball are available.
On Saturdays, walking and basketball is available from 5-8 a.m. and then from noon-6 p.m.. From 8 a.m. – noon, all levels of pickleball are available.
The schedule is subject to change.
