Officer Esplin picked Best of the Badge

Congratulations to Officer Matt Esplin for being awarded the Mesquite Police Department’s Best of the Badge for January!

Esplin joined MPD in 2021 as a new officer and he has been a great addition to the team. Esplin always has a positive attitude with co-workers and the community, even on the most challenging days.

He led the department in traffic stops throughout 2023 and again in January 2024. Not only is Esplin constantly proactively looking for criminal activity, but he also seeks out ways to serve the city in any way he can with compassion.

In just one of many examples of his hard work and caring for others, he recently dealt with someone who was having a mental health crisis. He went above and beyond what was expected of him, worked diligently to resolve their issues, and got the person help and resources when they needed it most.
