December is not only a time to start a countdown to the new year, but also a time to celebrate with the many holidays at the end of the month and into January.

The Mesquite Community Theatre is hosting not one, not two, but three different Christmas shows for anybody to attend and to get into a jolly mentality, all before Santa Claus comes to town.

Suzie White, the Mesquite Community Theatre’s Marketing Manager, said she cannot wait for people to come into the theater and enjoy getting into the holiday spirit with some renovated features.

“We have such a gem with this theater here in this community that I’m always excited to see folks turn out and realize what a great venue it is for different performances,” White said. “I encourage everyone to come out and check out our fantastic theater. We have we recently upgraded our sound and our lighting, and we are looking forward to bringing all kinds of attractions in the future.”

The festivities began with a “Rock’n Christmas Sing Along” by the O’Feehan Productions on Dec. 2. Then, the Mesquite Toes Dance Troupe hosted a show called “A Merry & Bright Christmas” on Dec. 8.

The finale of the three shows is on Dec. 16, featuring the performers from Sun City in December Delights. This show begins at 2 p.m. and will have music, dance, song, and fun.

In between acts during the Dance Troupe’s shows, White is going to perform some cowboy poetry and comedic observations.

White said each of the three events has the opportunity to bring people together from the community while hearing the festive tunes.

“I think everyone just enjoys singing and hearing the Christmas music,” White said. “It makes you have your memories come back of growing up and the special things that happened just during this time of the year.”

Each event not only comes with joy in the faces of the crowd but also the effort from those on stage.

White said those putting on the event, from the performances to those controlling sound and lighting, are working hard to give it their all and help the crowd get into the holiday spirit.

“Oh man, they rehearse for weeks,” she said. “A couple of weeks before each performance to and then with the lighting and the sound people so that they can hopefully give their best performances.”

As these events arrive, White is expecting Mesquite locals and visitors, alike, to come to the theater and have a great time getting into the holiday spirit that can last all month long for all ages.

“Well, we are hoping to have close to sell out performances for all of these,” White said. “Our theater holds 197 people, so we just hope that everyone comes out and enjoys the music.

“Just good wholesome family entertainment.”
