Mesquite PD’s Goodsell awarded Best of Badge

School Resource Officer Justin Goodsell of the Mesquite Police Department was awarded Best of the Badge for February 2023.

Goodsell investigated several large incidents at both the middle and elementary schools throughout the month and assisted patrol whenever needed, all while maintaining his regular duties of patrolling HMS with his K9 partner Marley.

Goodsell also felt that all students, teachers, and parents could use a little extra motivation this last semester of school. He coordinated with the school to bring in Ryan Stream, a motivational speaker to talk to students as well as parents, which was a huge success and the positive message resonated with everyone that attended one of the sessions.

Spring Festival slated for April 22

The Mesquite Republican Women are sponsoring the Mesquite Spring Festival that will be held on Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held outdoors at the Mesquite Recreation Center West Field.

Vendor booths have been reserved for local artists, crafters and a wide variety of items and services. Some of the great food trucks serving Mesquite will be on hand.

After the opening ceremony at 10 a.m., there will be continuous entertainment on the stage all day. Mesquite’s Senator in the Nevada Legislature, Jeff Stone, expects to be here around noon.

The band Runaway Fire will play through out the day.  Several of the Recreation Center programs will be giving demonstrations.
