Free Medicare seminar slated for Feb. 15
Medicare 101 Parts A, B, C and D is scheduled at 4 p.m. at the Mesquite Library Learning Center, 121 W. 1st N. St.
The free class is offered by Physicians Life Insurance Company. Topics to be discussed include: Making the most of your rights, options and entitlements; How and when to enroll in Medicare; What Medicare does and doesn’t cover; Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplemental insurance.

CSN Mesquite and Moapa Valley Centers Seeking Instructors
College of Southern Nevada Mesquite and Moapa Valley Centers are seeking instructors. If you have a master’s degree or Ph.D. in the specific area you are interested in teaching, are flexible, and looking to make a difference in our communities, this is for you!

Showgirls hosting Denim & Diamonds
The Mesquite Showgirls are hosting their fourth Denim & Diamonds fund-raiser Valentine’s Dance on Feb. 14 at the Rising Star Ballroom.
The event starts and 6 p.m. and features dinner and music by the Mesquite Cafe Blues Band. There will also be a silent auction and raffle prizes.

Charity golf tournament benefits Kids for Sports
A charity golf tournament is scheduled Monday, Feb. 13, at Wolf Creek Golf Club. The event benefits the Sports for Kids Foundation.
A shotgun start is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. with check in between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. There are varied costs for entry, depending on levels of sponsorship.
The event is sponsored by Wolf Creek Golf Club. Entry fee includes greens fees, cart, practice facility and range balls, tournament prizes,, raffles, on-course contests and catered lunch.

Sign ups due for youth flag football
Deadline for sign ups for youth flag football is Feb. 8, with the season scheduled to start on Feb. 27.
The league is run by Mesquite Athletics and Leisure Services.
There are four age groups: 4-5 years old, 6-8, 9-10 and 11-13. Age groups from 4-8 will play on Mondays and Wednesdays while 9-13 will play on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Entry fees are $50 for members and $55 for non-members and includes a t-shirt.

Little League baseball and softball sign ups
Little League Baseball and Softball sign ups are under way, with a deadline to register by Feb. 18.
Cost is $70 for first child, $65 for second and $60 for third or more. Online registration is at https://clubs.bluesombrero.com/virginvalleylittleleague. Financial assistance is available through Kids for Sports Foundation. Applications can be obtained at the Mesquite Recreation Center, 100 W. Old Mill Road, or through the website www.kidsforsportsfoundation.org.
Open field day is scheduled at the Old Mill ball fields on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 5:30 p.m. for softball players and 7 p.m. for baseball players.
Skills day is Saturday, Feb. 25, at Virgin Valley High School. Minors are scheduled at 10 a.m. for 8-10 year old boys and 8-11 year old girls. Majors will take place at 11:30 a.m. for boys 11-12. Juniors for boys 12-14 will also take place at 11:30 a.m.
The player draft will take place Feb. 18 for coaches only.
