David Preston
Dave was born on March 31, 1945, in Houston, TX and spent most of his childhood and teen years in the Oakland, CA area. Eventually Dave made it to the Great Falls, MT area after perfecting his craft in hydraulics, allowing him to run a successful small business for many years. While in Great Falls Dave established many life-long friendships and most importantly, this is where he met his wife, Marla (Rocks), whom he was married to for over 25 years. After selling his business, Dave and Marla retired to Mesquite, NV.
Dave appreciated all that Montana offered, enjoyed golfing, traveling to his cabin across the mountains, and spending quality time with family and friends as often as possible. As a retiree in Mesquite, Dave was able to continue his passion for golf and never missed a slot tournament, where he could be heard yelling “Buffalo”!
All those who knew Dave understood he lived life to the fullest and had a great love for all things fast and powerful. He was an avid Corvette and Shelby Cobra enthusiast and could often be found tinkering in his shop or taking one of his beloved vehicles for a spin. The love for cars came early for Dave – as a boy, he worked as a valet driver and often spoke about the first car he bought (1964 Mustang). Dave was also a member of many car clubs over the years and could always be found at car shows as a participant or just to gawk at all the cool cars.
Dave was kind, generous, easy to talk to and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His family hopes his memory will live through the many lives he touched and be remembered as a husband, father, grand-father, good friend, and a true enthusiast of all things fast and powerful. Rest in peace, David
