Mesquite Local News kicks off its 16th Annual Best of Mesquite Readers Poll today with you, our readers, doing the hard work of selecting the winners.
Ballots will be available by print only in our news editions on Jan. 16, 23, 30 and Feb 6. All ballots must be submitted by Wednesday, Feb. 12.
Only the news printed ballots will be valid for submission; photocopies will not be counted. The ballot can easily be found on our inside pages.
We’ve made some changes to entries by adding some new ones and removing a few others. For example, we combined various restaurant categories into a new one called Best International Restaurant. We also added Best Golf Course Eatery for all our golfing friends.
According to contest rules, there must be at least three businesses within the city limits to warrant a category. The list tends to vary year to year as the business climate changes in Mesquite.
All persons over the age of 13 at the time of voting may submit one ballot to be counted. One ballot is permitted per person and any group submissions that are turned in are valid for screening. Identical handwriting and answers are possible grounds for a disqualified ballot. There must be 15 categories filled out properly for the ballot to be valid.
Businesses are discouraged from “forcing” their employees or clients to fill out a ballot. Reports of such events happening may be grounds for the business to be disqualified entirely as the Mesquite Local News strives to keep the contest ethical and honest among its readers.
Ballots can be mailed to the Mesquite Local News at PMB 208, 550 W. Pioneer Blvd, Suite 140-208, Mesquite, NV 89024 or dropped in the Mesquite Local News dropbox at the UPS store located at 550 W. Pioneer Blvd. Ballots may be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
