Now that the election is over and the democrats have won the U.S. house we will start to see the economy slow down as they try to block everything Trump proposes. Their focus is not on America, it is on regaining power consequently, all those who supported the democrats, will begin to see the results of the choice.
Nevada is particularly vulnerable because the people also elected democrats to the majorly in both the executive and the legislative branches of our state. The craziness that is in California will soon be ours.
A good example is proposition 6 which would require the state’s power companies to supply 50% of the energy they sell to be renewable. Sounds good as we could be greener and who could be against that? And of course that’s what California is doing now. What is not said is the price of renewables.
Today much of our power comes from natural gas generation because it is cheap and plentiful. As said during the campaign, our electric rates are lower than the national average and much lower than California. Comparing a recent Southern California Edison bill to an Overton Power bill reveals that the $120 bill in Nevada rises to about $277 in the Golden State.
Why, is a good question, and the reason is that one state must purchase a lot of renewables at very high prices and one gets the cheapest power on the market. If Nevada requires more renewables then it will cost more as it always does when there is a forced demand.
Why does it cost more, because the price of solar and wind has been subsidized for years to even bring them into a reasonable price range. Even with huge government subsidizes solar is still about 3 times the energy market rate. Since it does not run at night you still need the other plants. As Obama said “your energy prices will necessary skyrocket.”
This kind of craziness will prevail in more than the energy field so Nevada, brace yourself, the Democrats are taking over Nevada. Without any check on the Democrats they will drive Nevada over the same cliff California is headed for. Those who left California know what is coming and those who have lived here or other states hold on to your wallets as it will be very costly. But it will be a sanctuary for some, just not the kind you might want for neighbors but the voters made that choice. An unfortunately they will reap what they have sown.
Gee Mike, the last time I checked, California had the world’s 4th or 5th largest economy. Not bad for a state that is going off a cliff. Nevada could use more of what Californis is doing to grow our own economy. Why are you afraid of Democrats? They are the ones who have had to clean up the economic messes caused by the GOP. It took 8 years under Obama to clean up the mess that Bush left. Reagan’s mess was cleaned up by Clinton. I am afraid you might have to move since Nevada is a very deep blue state and will stay that way for many years. I hear Utah is a very red state.
PS: Have you checked your 401(k) lately?
Actually David, it wasn’t the Democrats that fixed the problem left by the Republican economy, it was the Federal Reserve ( who is non-political) that provided the stimulus that corrected the economic downturn. The outline of the law that established more regulation was in place although not enacted in law before Obama took office. The reason that it took Obama 8 years to begin to fix the economy and the unemployment numbers is that the Obama Administration refused to use fiscal (provided by the US Gov’t) to stimulate the economy. and as soon as current administration provided fiscal stimulus vis the tax cut, the unemployment numbers dropped like a rock and the economy took off. What you are seeing in the stock market is a correction rather than a recession. Corrections occur every 1-5 to 2 years.
Trump’s tax cuts are a sham. Wait until you file your tax return to see what your actual tax rate is. Also, the unemployment rate was coming down over the Obama years. All Trump did was to bankrupt our children with a tax cut that only helped the rich and corporations. And how do you feel about our President giving a pass to an evil country that thinks nothing of killing it’s critics? For all your anti Obama nonsense, he would never have let the Saudi’s off the hook scot free. We as a country are better than that.
Benghazi…
Russia’s involvement in the cyber attacks…http://gulagbound.com/55280/brennan-admits-obama-refused-to-retaliate-for-russian-cyber-warfare-attacks-on-u-s/
How about Syria?
China?
Truth is, Obama, Bush, Trump…doesn’t matter, when it comes to retaliation, it’s not that simple. Obama backed off of retaliation to avoid a full out cyber war against China…sure, they spent our dollars and their time trying to come up with some way to retaliate but truth is, they never did.
Bush didn’t retaliate against 911…using the excuse that there was no “One entity/person/group” that they knew to retaliate against.
So, YES David, Obama would have let this go…just like he let the others go…it’s NOT that simple or do you just WANT to see us go to war?
I’m pretty sure we’re losing enough people without being at war right now.
David, corporations don’t pay taxes they only collect them from us. So raising or lowering Corp. Taxes only effects us, they just raise or lower their prices. I guess you think the doubling of the public debt by Obama didn’t do anything. Also We are not the world’s court and what happens in the world should by the countries themselves. Sorry one guy got killed but I don’t disrupt the world’s economy over it. Let Turkey handle it. it is none of our business..
Obama only spent what Congress approved him to spend. The wars in the Middle East were a major part of that spending. Needless wars, like Iraq, caused our economy to tank. And do not forget the real estate speculators, like Trump, who helped destroy the housing market.
But mainly, I am appalled at your callous disregard for a journalist and resident of the US. He did not deserve to die. We do not need Saudi Arabia for anything. What have they ever done for us? They funded and sent the majority of the 9/11 terrorists to the US. We do not need their oil and we do not need to kiss up to a murderer. By your comments, American exceptionalism is now dead. It started to die two years ago thanks to you and other ill informed voters.
