Bulldog coach Chimane Creer has her hands full getting a small but energetic Lady Bulldog team ready for the 2018-2019, season. The Lady Dawgs lost most of their height and rebounding from last year’s 9-3 Sunrise league record and 15-13 overall season record. “We are a lot smaller than last year’s squad,” said coach Creer. “We will use our speed to our advantage, a lot of man defense boxing out or they will run all over us. We have a better ball handling team than in previous years which should keep us competitive. We’re still hoping to pick up other girls so we can support three teams this year. If not we will go with J.V, and Varsity squads.” The Lady Dawgs return all league point guard Nathalie Lagamayo, guard Sidney Ludvigson, forwards Alexis Boatright Areli Ponce and Betsy Orozco plus Cynthia Ponce. Newcomers Kalli Garrett, Madison Walker and Addison Snider add team depth.

Moapa Valley will contend once again after going 12-0 league and 25-4 last season. The Pirates return 3A South MVP Laney Cornwall and fellow first teamer Katelyn Anderson. Shelbi Walker second team all-conference also returns for the Pirates. The trio, were the top scorers for last year’s squad. Boulder City returns their whole team for last year which matched the Dawgs with a 9-3 record. Third place State finisher Mojave will be reckoned with again after winning the Southern Conference playoffs. Pahrump Valley returns four starters from last year’s 9-2 Sunset League Champion. The unknown is how 2A runner up Democracy Prep 14-2 in League play responds at the 3A level. The Blue Knights are led by Charmayne Findley who averaged 28.9 points per game to lead all state scorers. The Lady Dawgs open the season at Mojave on Nov. 27 and host Del Sol in their first home game.
