The Virgin Valley High School volleyball team continues to sit on top in 1-A Sunrise Conference play with a resounding 25-18, 25-12 and 25-15 sweep of the Roadrunners from S.E.C.T.A aka TECH Wednesday October 7 in the Dawg House. The Dawgs started strong jumping out to a 16-3 lead against a stunned TECH squad. The Roadrunners were not about to run with their tails between their legs as they ran off 7 straight points to cut the Dawgs lead to 16-10. Bulldog Emma Barnum and Bernice Fiso put a stop to the TECH rally with strong play at the net. Fiso had three kills during the Dwags rebound for a 25-18 win.

The second match of the day began more competitively as the Dawgs led by only 6-5 early in the game. Lexi Thompson gave the Bulldogs a little breathing room rattling off 5 service points for a 11-5 Bulldog lead. The dawgs would go on to a 25-12 victory.

The third match of the day found the Dawgs up by only a 9-8 advantage before the Dawgs went into high gear outscoring the Roadrunners 16-7 the rest of the way for a 25-15 win. Bernice Fiso led the Dawgs once again with 8 kills, sister Janella had 19 assists and Brianna Todd added four kills for the Dawgs. The win kept the Dawgs in first place in Sunrise League play with a 6-0 record. The Bulldogs have a full schedule next week traveling to Sunrise Mountain on Monday October 12, hosting Chaparral on the 13th before archrival Moapa Valley lights up the gym on Thursday October 15. Three wins could set up a huge match at the Kirk Brotherson Gymnasium Monday October 19 with second place Boulder City.
