Virgin Valley Bulldogs Face Cheyenne Thursday Night in Playoffs

The Virgin Valley High School Bulldogs will face Cheyenne High School Desert Shields in the first round of the Division 1A football playoffs Thursday night in Las Vegas. It will be an uphill battle for the ‘Dawgs as the Desert Shields offense features the most prolific scorer and rusher in Clark County football. The Shields are also undefeated with a 5-0 Sunset Division record and 7-2 overall. Rusher Myloe Lewis has rushed for 1847 yards on 184 carries, for 10 yards per carry average. He is also leading the South with 33 touchdowns and 212 points for the season.

The Bulldogs meanwhile come in with a season record of 5-4 and 2-3 in league play. Quarterback Garrett Leavitt and rusher Dee Bowler lead the Bulldogs in passing and rushing respectively. Bowler rushed for 227 yards in his last outing against Sunrise Mountain. Leavitt has 64 completions in 108 attempts for 1087 yards and 11 touchdowns. Dillon Graves has been Leavitt’s favorite target with 25 receptions. The Bulldogs will have to bring their A game if they want to move on in the playoffs.
