It was a long eight hour drive to Winnemucca Nevada for the Virgin Valley High School Bulldogs Thursday morning and then had to face host Lowry High School at 7pm. The host Buckaroos defeated the Bulldogs 59-46. “The kids played hard but we started slow, missing 8 straight shots, falling behind 16-8 after one period of play," said Coach Sean FitzSimons. The Bulldogs cut the Buckaroo lead to 24-17 at the half. The Buckaroos took it to the ‘Dawgs in the third period outscoring the Bulldogs 22-11 increasing their lead to 46-28. The Bulldogs rallied in the last period to cut the final score to 59-46. Garrett Leavitt had five three pointers and led the Bulldogs with 20 points, followed by Dee Bowler with 13 points and Tyson Teerlink with 10 points. Coach FitzSimons added, “We committed only 10 turnovers in the game which was a great improvement over our loss to Faith Lutheran. It’s been a long day.” The Bulldogs will face Truckee California at 3pm Friday.
