The Virgin Valley High School boys and girls track team faced Chaparral and Sunrise Mountain High Schools in a tri-meet Thursday afternoon in the ‘Dawg Pound with the girls tying for first and the boys placing second. The boys meet score was Chaparral winning with 74 points followed by the Bulldogs with 59 and Sunrise Mountain with 52 points. The Lady ‘Dawgs tied Chaparral with 65 points with Sunrise Mountain following with 44 points. The girls were led by McCall Grajek with four first place finishes in the long jump, triple jump 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles. Other first place winner’s for the Bulldog Ladies were Karson Bryant in the pole vault and Josie Grajek in the high jump. Pole-vaulter Tyson Teerlink led the Bulldog boys with a first place leap of 13’6”. Other first place finisher’s were Drew Durbin in the 800-meter run Ty Rappleye in the 1600-meter run and Jaime Macias won the 300 IM hurdles with a time of 41.1 seconds. Teerlink attempt at a best jump of 14’2” fell short as his pole hit the cross bar. The Bulldogs will travel to Moapa Valley on May 11 and 12 to compete in the 3A Southern Division finals.
