Attempting to right their ship after two huge losses to Boulder City on Friday (16-0 and 33-3) the host ‘Dawgs faced Southeast Career Technical Monday and lost 10-3 to the Roadrunners. The first inning woes continued Monday as the Roadrunners posted five runs on the scoreboard and added four more in the second inning. Trailing 9-0 the Bulldogs put two runs on the scoreboard in there half of the second as Cody Faught scored on a bases loaded walk. Faught led off the second inning with a single and then scored the Bulldogs third run of the game. Trailing 9-3 Bulldog coach Brian Fanning replaced starter Nolan Tanner with Faught in the third inning. The Roadrunners could not handle Faught at the plate or on the mound as he reached base three times and did not allow an earned run, walked none and struck out three in four and two thirds innings of work. The Roadrunners scored an unearned run in the fifth inning to end the scoring. The Bulldogs threatened down the stretch but could not overcome mental mistakes or errors. The game ended with two Bulldogs in scoring position. A frustrated coach Fanning said,” You can’t win ball games with only nine players. Cody pitched well and had a great game. This whole situation is unreal as our J.V. game was canceled due to ineligible players and ongoing problem for our team.” A note here, players from both girls and boys teams did not play due to grades or skipping classes. The ‘Dawgs will now face Bonanza high school on Friday and finish the season on May fifth with a doubleheader against archrival Moapa Valley. The Bulldog record now stands at 1-16.
