TUESDAY: MMGA PREPARES FOR END OF MONTH MESQUITE CUP
On a sunny but cool Lincoln’s Birthday morning, the MMGA played one last round of match play games in preparation for the Mesquite Cup with the Oasis golf group at the end of the month. This time the Reds and Blues (Lincoln’s birthday!!!) played more than 500 holes of golf, and played to a 24-24 tie. The tie was broken by the inspired play of Red Team member John Sabraw who won both his matches 4 & 3. The Blue Team ember Lew Roney used his hot putter, affectionately known as “Bulldog”, to win his match 4 &2 as well but could not overcome Sabraw’s precise tee-to-green performance. THURSDAY: LAMAR BROWN BEATS HIS AGE BY EIGHT STROKES THIS TIME
As the saying goes, “there’s no place like home” and for La Mar Brown he must enjoy his home course at the Palms golf course. Last week he beat his age by seven strokes and this week bettered that by two shots after turning in a brilliant pair of 37’s for a smashing 74. Check this out, his round only included four birdies and an eagle on the par five 15th. From all of us in the MMGA we say Congratulations LaMar! Neil Hendricks and Andrew Yeh, playing together battled for medalist honors. After the first nine holes both players were tied with 38’s. though it took birdies on the first and ninth holes by Yeh to stay even with Hendricks. Hendricks took a one stroke lead with a par on 11 but gave it right back on the next hole. Birdies on 14 and 15 by Yeh put the match away as the last three holes were tied. Yeh’s 76 gave him the crown and Hendricks placed second with 79. All was not lost for Hendricks as his 79 was a net 72 and his par on the 18th hole awarded him first place low net as Bill Irace (85) also had a net 72 but bogeyed the same hole. John Sabraw (98) and net 74 landed the last spot third low net.
NOTE: Next play is on Tuesday Feb 19 at 7:50 at Falcon Ridge and Thursday February 21st , at the Casablanca at 7:30 a.m . Always check your sign - up sheets, and or our website, for any changes. Anyone interested in the MMGA may call 346-6363 or visit our website at www.mesquitemensgolf.com.
