Sacramento’s Eric Lastowka won his first WLDC Thursday afternoon at the Mesquite Sports event Center, defeating Hall of Famer Frank Miller, 355 yards to 349 yards in the finals.

The semi-finals featured two former champions Miller and George Slupski. Slupski was the first seed by winning the quarterfinals with a monster drive of 423 yards. It was not his day as all six of his shots went out of bounds. Miller moved on with a drive 340 yards.

The second semifinal featured Lastowka against the very popular Eric Houballah of France. Houballah could only manage a drive of 315 yards as Lastowka moved on with his drive of 333 yards. Lastowka brought laughter from the crowd when he said “I sure like it better when the wind is blowing out”.  Lastowka won $50,000 for his efforts and received an automatic entry into next years, championship wherever that may be.
