Sunday was closing day for Falcon Ridge golf course due to overseeding. This was a good reason for local linksters to come out do their part in the closing. We started out with a great lunch provided by Brian Wursten's clubhouse crew, followed by a 85 yard chipping contest. Don Austen won this phase of the games with a shot of 7 ft. 6 in. This is amazing as Don is one of two players that can hardly see that far. The 2nd game was a team event-- best ball -- won by the Jim Buttler--Stan Nickle--Jeff Lund & Gary Bartlett foursome at one under par. The 3rd event was a 3 hole horse race using holes # 1--# 2 & # 9-- After a chip off on the 1 st hole there were 4 players (Clark Mitchell-- Stan Nickle-- Jeff Lund-- & Gary Bartlett) left in the mix. On hole # 2 Lund & Bartlett were eliminated. Mitchell and Nickle both hit great drives on # 9 to within 60 yards of the green. Stan had a long putt which came up a few inches short, right on line. Clark then showed all of us what he really excels at and knocked his four footer in for a birdie and the win. The par 3 hole prizes went to Larry Mierisch-- Geno Withelder & Jim Buttler.
The closing cludhouse party capped off a good time had by friends. Cocktails and camaraderie is the perfect ending for for this event.
