Every week I hear something else regarding the Overton Power District. Well I think it is time to set the record straight on one of the “issues.”
My name is Terry Romero and I am the Manager of Finance & Administration at OPD. I have been employed there since 1995. I am also one on the team that hires OPD employees. So needless to say I was very surprised to find out that the “majority of OPD employees belong to only one religion,” as one of your letter-writers claim (“Religious discrimination at Overton Power District” Page 5-A, Jan. 17)
First of all I don’t know the religion of all OPD employees and it really doesn’t matter. What does matter is that we have some fantastic people working at OPD who are very dedicated to OPD customers and will do whatever it takes to keep the power on. They go in on weekends, nights and holidays without a second thought.
If the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission wants to investigate, we will be waiting with the truth. So maybe we can just go back to what really matters, the low cost, extremely reliable power.
And a few other pieces of information for those of you who think they know about OPD:
I am a manager, I am not a man and I am not LDS.
