Thanks for the support

If one can ever say anything grand about Mesquite, it is the wonderful people who live here.

I've always known that and also know there are always some who regardless of what we do or don't do, it is never right. But, I have never in the 12 plus years of its inception seen the Mesquite Cancer HELP Society so blessed as this month.  Event after event we have had awesome results.  Whether it be the cancer drive, Puttin’ on the Ritz this past February or a Fashionable Tea Party which took place this week, the community support and many volunteers can and will never be minimized for their outstanding response when the occasion calls for it.

This month Hughes Middle School Junior National Honor Society, dozens of businesses from beauty shops, the newspapers, entertainment, gas stations, retail, golf and some of which I just found out about have opened their hearts and shown the grand spirit of bringing awareness to the fight against breast cancer of which over 328,000 women have been diagnosed with in 2012 per (ACS) stats.

This is but one cancer of over 100 types and major emphasis is put on it because of its high numbers.  The passion and spirit can be seen in this past weekend’s CasaBlanca's "Golf 4 Life" tournament slide show that Mesquite Citizen has put on its website.  Around the corner on Oct. 28, the Oasis Women's Golf Association at the Palmer Golf Course has planned a golf tournament with all kinds of prizes, a barbecue, hole sponsors, and fun golf challenges at different holes; it is open to all who are interested in participating.  To everyone who is always so supportive regardless of one or all cancer-related events know you are truly a beacon of light for many cancer patients here in our own area (where all monies stay) who are battling and surviving cancer.

So many, many thanks!

Yoli Bell, President
Mesquite Cancer HELP Society
