Don’t miss ‘Radio Gals’

Everyone is invited to the Virgin Valley Theatre Group’s (VVTG) presentation of “Radio Gals,” tonight, tomorrow and Saturday.

It’s set in the 1920s. An ambitious woman, Hazel Hunt, retires as town music teacher in Cedar Ridge, Ark.. The town folks give her a 500 watt radio transmitter and Hazel begins broadcasting as radio station “WGAL.”

Hazel transmits off-channel and reaches out to Manhattan and Montreal, much to the chagrin of the Federal Radio inspectors.

One well intentioned inspector, O.B. Abbott, visits Hazel, expecting to shut down her rogue station but instead romance gets in the way.

Radio Gals is a lively musical put on by the Virgin Valley Theatre Group under the direction of Larry Lemieux of “Night at the Opera” and the “Mesquite Concert Series” fame, and has an outstanding, local cast of talent, the likes of which can only be found in Mesquite.

“Radio Gals” plays at the Mesquite Community Theatre, 150 N. Yucca, Sept. 20, 21 and 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the performances are $10. Tickets are all general admission and are being sold by members of the theatre group and at the box office.
