Under the instruction of Denise Hoyt, the entire Beaver Dam Elementary School student body presented a festive, holiday program on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
The program was a parody of “America’s Got Talent” and pitted classes against each other as they entertained an overflow audience with the “North Pole Star.” The competition was the “search for the most talented singers of them all”.
Leading the cast was announcer Tanner Reber. Judges included Santa Claus (Kasey Lloyd}, Mrs. Claus (Sarai Ramirez), and Steven Cruele, (Janson Sherman). Kynnedie Ellingsford assumed the role of Nicky Snowcrest, whose role was to introduce each class and elicit the judges’ responses for each performance. Helping the audience respond were sign holders Jose Avila, Gi Wooten and Cesar Ruiz.
Each class performed a holiday tune which really got the Christmas spirit flowing, bringing many smiles and more photos as proud parents watched their little ones present the songs.
The preschool students sang “Must be Santa.” First-graders chose “Up on the Housetop” Kindergarten sang “O Christmas Tree.” “Jolly Old St. Nicholas” was the second-grade presentation. Third-graders decided they were “Gonna Catch that Santa.” The second/third combo class decided to “Deck the Halls.” Fifth-graders presented “Miracles of Christmas.” Fourth-graders rocked the halls with “Jingle Bells.” The fifth/six combo class sang “All I want for Christmas is a Silent Night.” And sixth-grade singers got in the “Spirit of the Season.”
The performance ended with students and audience joining in on “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
After such outstanding performances, the judges could only agree on one thing: each class brimmed with the spirit of Christmas and all were declared winners!
The artistic display was created by Suzanne Garlick, Megan Moyer and Colleen Garlick. The colorful backdrop enhanced the entire performance. A big thanks goes to these great helpers and to Hoyt for her hard work to make the Christmas program such a success.
