STREETS OF MESQUITE
Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for Nov. 25-Dec. 1.
Wanted person: Nov. 25 -- Officers responded to the Eureka Resort Casino on Mesa Boulevard, reference a subject with a warrant. Warrant and extradition were confirmed. Suspect was arrested and transported to the detention center.
Traffic stop: Nov. 25 -- Officers conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 15 (southbound) on a vehicle for speed. Following an investigation, an adult male was cited and released for open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
Traffic stop: Nov. 25 -- A police officer conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 15 (northbound) for a traffic violation. It was discovered the driver had outstanding warrants and was arrested for them.
Theft: Nov. 25 -- Police were called to Concord Drive residence for a report of stolen items. Report was taken and an investigation continues.
Driving under the influence: Nov. 26 -- Officers were on patrol and observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on West Mesquite Boulevard. Officers contacted the driver and passenger and discovered the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol, and the passenger was in possession of an open container of alcohol. The driver was arrested and passenger was issued a citation.
Traffic accident without injury: Nov. 26 -- Officer was flagged down by motorists who were just involved in a traffic accident at the Interstate 15, 122 off-ramp. Officer completed an accident investigation and issued citations.
Trespassing: Nov. 26 -- Police responded to a trespass violator at the Virgin River Casino on East Pioneer Boulevard. One adult male was issued a citation for trespass violation and released with a court date.
Threatening: Nov. 26 -- An officer responded to the police department lobby on Mayan Circle in reference to a report of threats among two adults sharing a residence.
Threatening: Nov. 26 -- Officer responded to the police department, reference a threatening incident at West Old Mill Road and Woodbury Lane. The complainant reported another male was threatening to fight him. Officers contacted the other male and completed an officer's report.
Threatening: Nov. 26 -- Officer responded to the police department reference a threatening incident. A male stated he was threatened by another male in person and in text messages. Officer contacted the other male involved and completed an officer's report.
Controlled substance problem: Nov. 26 -- An officer stopped a vehicle on Interstate 15 southbound for a traffic violation. The officer observed evidence of criminal activity. After a drug dog indication to drug odor, officers located methamphetamines and a built-in hidden compartment inside the vehicle. Inside the hidden compartment officers located a large amount of U.S. currency.
Threatening: Nov. 26 -- Officer took a report of a threatening phone call. The Osprey Street complainant wanted report to be taken only as a matter of record.
Suspicious person/circumstance: Nov. 27 -- Police responded to a report of a subject sleeping in a storage room at a local school on North Yucca Street. One adult male was arrested for obstructing an officer and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Sexual assault: Nov. 27 -- Officers responded to a Concord Drive residence for a report of sexual assault, several days old. A report was taken and an investigation is under way.
Theft: Nov. 27 -- An officer responded to the lobby in reference to a theft. An investigation was begun.
Suicidal person: Nov. 27 -- Officers responded to Concord Drive residence for a follow up investigation. During the investigation the victim had made suicidal threats. The victim was transported to the hospital for an evaluation.
Traffic violation: Nov. 27 -- An officer stopped a motor vehicle at West First South Street and Quail Run for a traffic offense. The driver was cited for reckless driving and unlawful transfer of plates. The driver was then arrested for a parole violation per the request of his parole officer.
Graffiti: Nov. 28 -- Officers responded to property damage at Old Mill Park on West Old Mill Road. The paint used to damage the property was made of chalk and was not permanent. Parks and Recreation were notified.
Citizen assist: Nov. 28 -- Officers took a citizen assist report on East Pioneer Boulevard concerning a possible assault. After investigation, there was no physical evidence indicating an assault had taken place.
Traffic accident with damage: Nov. 28 -- Officer took a report of a private property non-injury, traffic accident on North Sandhill Boulevard. Both drivers involved received their copies of the drivers exchange form.
Weapon offense: Nov. 28 -- Officers responded to a weapons offense near Summer Winds Apartments. Officers are attempting to locate the suspects.
Traffic accident with damage: Nov. 28 -- Officer responded to a private property accident at 350 N. Sandhill Blvd. The two identified vehicle's backed in to each other, causing minor damage to each vehicle. A Mesquite police exchange of information form was completed, with each driver receiving a copy.
Controlled substance problem: Nov. 29 -- Officers conducted a traffic stop at West Mesquite Boulevard and North Arrowhead Lane and located marijuana belonging to the driver. The driver was cited and released for traffic violations and possession of marijuana.
Wanted person: Nov. 29 -- Officers were dispatched to the front lobby of police department, reference a wanted subject. The officer confirmed the subject had an active warrant with full extradition. The subject was arrested and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.
Wanted person: Nov. 29 -- Officers were called to the front office of the police department concerning a subject with a warrant. Officers verified the warrant and arrested the subject.
Theft: Nov. 29 -- Officers were dispatched to an East Pioneer Boulevard restaurant, reference theft of food. Officers located two subjects involved with the theft. Both subjects were arrested and cited for the theft. One subject was taken into custody for obstructing an
officer.
Traffic accident with damage: Nov. 29 -- Officer took a report of a single vehicle (scooter) non-injury accident at Turtle Cove and Turtleback Road.
Traffic accident with damage: Nov. 30 -- Officers responded to a vehicle accident on Kitty Hawk Drive near the airport. Officers determined the driver was struggling with mental problems and drove off the roadway. The driver was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Controlled substance problem: Nov. 30 -- Officer made contact with a male on Chaparral Drive with information pertaining to possible narcotic abuse. Officer is currently investigating the alleged narcotic abuse.
Theft: Nov. 30 -- An officer responded to a West Mesquite Boulevard casino reference a theft of copper wiring. An investigation was begun.
Fighting: Nov. 30 -- Officers responded to an East Pioneer Boulevard parking lot reference a call of a fight. Following an investigation, an adult male was taken into custody for obstructing a public officer and battery.
Mental person: Dec. 1 -- Officers responded to a request for assistance with a female on Hillside Drive who requested mental health treatment.
Theft from vehicle: Dec. 1 -- Citizen contacted Police to report GPS was taken out of his vehicle on East Pioneer Boulevard. No forced entry was observed and the investigation is ongoing.
Trespassing: Dec. 2 -- Police were called to the Virgin River Casino for a trespass violator. The person was identified and cited for trespassing.
