STREETS OF MESQUITE
Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for Dec. 16-22.
Disorderly conduct: Dec. 16 -- Officers responded to a Desert Willow Lane residence at 1:13 a.m. reference a possible burglary in progress. Investigation revealed an intoxicated male was lost and tried to make entry into the complainant's home. The juvenile male was cited and released to a guardian.
Hit and run: Dec. 16 -- Police were called to the Eureka Resort Casino parking lot on Mesa Boulevard at 1:40 a.m. to take a report of a hit-and-run accident. A witness at the scene saw a pickup truck hit an unoccupied parked vehicle and drive off. The witness was able to obtain a plate number and description of the truck. After a long search, the police were unable to find the vehicle. Investigation continues.
Traffic stop: Dec. 16 -- An officer conducted an Interstate-15 traffic stop on a northbound vehicle at 7:50 a.m. for a moving violation. Upon investigation it was determined the driver was intoxicated. The male adult driver was arrested for DUI and other traffic violations.
Recovered stolen property: Dec. 16 -- Officer responded to a Thistle Street residence at 6:25 p.m. reference a stolen bicycle that had been located. The bicycle was returned to the owner.
Domestic trouble: Dec. 16 -- Officers responded at 11:05 p.m. to the Virgin River Casino reference a domestic disturbance. Officers determined a couple had been in an argument and a male had battered the female. The male was arrested for domestic battery.
Civil matter: Dec. 17 -- Officer responded to a Garnet Lane residence at 12:51 a.m. reference a civil matter and possible fraudulent sale of a vehicle. The reporting person stated a man had possibly sold his vehicle without the owner's consent. Investigation is ongoing.
Fraud: Dec. 17 -- Officer responded to a West Pioneer Boulevard business at 2:12 p.m. for a report of a fraud incident. Officer took a report and investigation is ongoing.
Driving under the influence: Dec. 17 -- Officer observed a vehicle make an illegal left hand turn against a red traffic light at the northbound I-15 onramp. After completing a traffic stop it was determined that the driver was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Driver was arrested for DUI.
Burglary: Dec. 18 -- Officers made contact with a North Sandhill Boulevard restaurant owner at 7:57 p.m. about a suspicious circumstance which occurred the night before at the restaurant. Officers gathered evidence and collected initial information. The report was forwarded to investigations division for follow-up.
Controlled substance problem: Dec. 18 -- Officers conducted a West Mesquite Boulevard traffic stop at 10:26 p.m. on a vehicle for an equipment violation. Officers contacted an adult male driver and passenger. The passenger was found to be in possession of marijuana and was arrested for this violation. The driver suffered from medical problems and was transported to Mesa View Hospital by ambulance.
Wanted person: Dec. 19 -- Officer conducted a routine traffic stop on West Mesquite Boulevard at 8:45 a.m. for speed in school zone and found the driver of the vehicle to have a felony warrant. The warrant was confirmed and the driver was taken into custody for the warrant.
Traffic accident without injuries: Dec. 19 --Officers responded to a non-injury vehicle accident at Hillside Drive and North Sandhill Boulevard. An investigation was completed and one of the two vehicles involved was not operable and towed at the owner's request.
Graffiti: Dec. 19 -- Officers responded to the Virgin River Casino at 6:40 p.m. referencing graffiti in the men’s restroom. Officers located and photographed the graffiti and provided security with an incident number.
Wanted person: Dec. 19 -- Officers arrested a male on Canyon Drive at 8:59 p.m. with an active bench warrant issued by the Mesquite Municipal Court.
Wanted person: Dec. 19 -- Officers contacted a Riverside Road resident at 9:37 p.m. with an active Mesquite Municipal Court Bench Warrant. Subject was arrested on the aforementioned warrant and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Civil matter: Dec. 20 -- Officers assisted in a civil matter between a previous co-habitant retrieving personal items at 8:51 a.m. from an old North Yucca Street residence.
Citizen assist: Dec. 20 -- An officer was dispatched to the front lobby of the police department, to assist a citizen. The officer contacted the complainant, who wanted to inform the police of an attempt by a unknown person to gain her personal information for a credit card. The complainant requested an incident number for her credit card
company.
Traffic accident without injuries: Dec. 20 -- Officers responded to an accident on I-15 northbound between two vehicles at 4:18 p.m. Officers completed an investigation and cleared the freeway lanes.
Trespassing: Dec. 20 -- An officer was dispatched to the Virgin River Casino at 9:08 p.m., in reference to a trespass violator. An adult male subject was later arrested for trespassing.
Suspicious person/circumstance: Dec. 20 -- Officers conducted an investigation on three suspicious males outside the Eureka Casino Resort. Investigation revealed two of the males had active bench warrants out of Las Vegas with one male also being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Controlled substance problem: Dec. 20 -- Officers arrested a suspicious female on Mesa Boulevard at 10:40 p.m. for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Controlled substance problem: Dec. 21 -- Officers responded to the Eureka Casino Resort at 10:02 p.m. in regards to several subjects being inside a vacant hotel room. Officers made contact with three (3) subjects and one being in possession of narcotics. One (1) subject was arrested on drug related charges.
Vandalism: Dec. 21 -- An officer was dispatched to an East Old Mill Road apartment complex parking lot, reference vandalism to a parked vehicle at 4:58 p.m. The officer arrived, and contacted the victim, who requested to sign a citation against the known suspect for the alleged crime.
Controlled substance problem: Dec. 22 -- Officers conducted a traffic stop at Mesa Boulevard and El Dorado Road on a vehicle for an equipment violation at 11:27 a.m. Drugs were located in the vehicle and the driver was arrested.
Wanted person: Dec. 22 -- Officers contacted a male subject on Mesa Boulevard at 12:05 a.m. who has an active arrest warrant. The male was placed under arrest for the confirmed warrant, and was transported to the detention center where he awaits to be transported Clark County Detention Center.
Vandalism: Dec. 22 -- Reporting party contacted the police at 1:21 p.m. regarding damage to her Christmas yard decorations on Ronnie Way. She requested the incident be documented.
Identification check: Dec. 22 -- An officer was dispatched to the Virgin River Casino at 8:53 p.m. in reference to an identification check. An adult/minor was later cited and released for minor gambling.
Trespassing: Dec. 22 -- Officers responded to the Virgin River Casino reference a male who had been trespassed but refused to leave property. Upon officers’ arrival the male was advised he had to leave the property, but the male refused. The male was arrested for trespassing and was transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.
