Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for July 1-7. Individuals listed here should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
n Civil matter: July 1 -- An officer responded to aSouth Arrowhead Lane residence for a report of a stolen vehicle, after an investigation the vehicle was found to have been repossessed by a lien holder.
n Information report: July 1 -- A Mesquite officer met with a citizen at the Mesquite Police Department to receive a voluntary statement regarding a possible abuse situation. The investigation is ongoing.
n Lost property: July 1 -- Officer contacted a complainant via telephone, reference a lost property report. An adult female reported she lost her cell phone at aMesa Boulevard casino. The officer took the required information of the property and provided the complainant an incident number.
n Controlled substance problem: July 1 -- A Mesquite police officer made a traffic stop on the Interstate15, 120 southbound off-ramp. The adult male passenger was arrested for possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. An adult female passenger was arrested for possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
n Suspicious person/circumstance: July 1 -- Officers responded to aWest Mesquite Boulevard casino, reference a suspicious incident. An adult female had fallen from a wall/fence and was transported to the hospital for possible injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
n Theft: July 1 -- An officer was dispatched to aNorth Sandhill Boulevard convenience store, reference an alleged theft of alcohol. The investigation is ongoing.
n Domestic trouble: July 2 -- Officers responded to aMesa Boulevard residence reference a domestic dispute. Officers contacted an adult male and female and learned they had a verbal argument. Both subjects agreed to separate for the evening.
n Burglary: July 2 -- A complainant reported an attempted burglary on her Hagens Alley residence while she was away. No one made entry into the residence. Photographs and information obtained.
n Traffic accident with damage: July 2 -- Police responded to the parking lotonWest Mesquite Boulevard of a local casino when a concerned citizen called to report they observed a male who was possibly intoxicated drive into another vehicle.
n Traffic accident without injury: July 2 -- Officers responded to a vehicle accident atFalcon Ridge Parkway andHardy Way. After an investigation the driver was arrested for DUI. A second adult female was also arrested at the scene for obstruction of an officer.
n Citizen assist: July 2 -- An officer responded to the police department lobby for a citizen assist.
n Fire: July 2 --Mesquite police officers were dispatch to a small brush fire at aPulsipherPark on Second South Street. Officers searched the area for possible suspects.
n Civil matter: July 2 -- Officers responded to aMoss Drive residence, reference a civil matter. Officers spoke with an adult male and female and answered their questions regarding child custody.
n Fire: July 2 --Mesquite police officers and the Mesquite Fire Department responded to a brush fire onWest Mesquite Boulevard. Officers stayed in the area and attempted to locate possible suspects involved in starting the fire.
n Burglary: July 3 -- A Mesquite police officer responded to aRiverside Road apartment complex to take an initial report regarding a burglary.
n Suicidal person: July 3 -- Officers responded to aPartridge Lane residence in reference to a suicidal male. The male was transported to the hospital for assistance.
n Battery on person: July 3 -- Officers responded to aWest Mesquite Boulevard strip mall reference a battery that had occurred between the landlord and a tenant. The offender was cited and released.
n Traffic accident without injury: July 3 -- An officer responded to theWest Hafen Lane andRiverside Road intersection for a minor property damage accident involving two vehicles. A driver's exchange of information was completed and a citation was issued to the at-fault driver.
n Traffic accident with damage: July 3 -- Officer was dispatched to aWest Mesquite Boulevard business reference a private property accident. A driver's exchange had been completed prior to my arrival.
n Citizen assist: July 3 -- An officer responded to a complaint of fraud of a bank account.
n Vandalism: July 3 -- An Officer responded to aKelkim Street address in reference to vandalism to a parked vehicle. The incident is currently under investigation.
n Found property: July 3 -- An officer responded to an East First South Street residence in reference to a found purse. The officer retrieved the purse and placed it into the evidence vault for safekeeping.
n Disorderly conduct: July 3 --Mesquite police officers were dispatched to aRiverside Road apartment complex to investigate a disorderly person and suspicious behavior.
n Stolen vehicle: July 4 -- Officer's respond to aWest Mesquite Boulevard business for a report of a possible stolen vehicle.
n Follow-up investigation: July 4 -- Officer responded to a local residence, reference found property that was recently reported as being stolen. The property was removed from the state files as stolen property.
n Burglary: July 4 -- Officers responded to a burglary at aNorth Grapevine Road apartment complex. Multiple prescription pills were stolen from the residence. A report was taken for the burglary and police are currently attempting to locate the suspect(s).
n Driving under the influence: July 4 -- Officer conducted a traffic stop onMarilyn Parkway for driving after dark without the use of the vehicle headlights. The driver of the vehicle was found to be an unlicensed driver, as well as being intoxicated. Driver was arrested and transported to the Mesquite Detention Facility.
n Found property: July 5 -- Police responded to a report of found narcotic paraphernalia near a local business. All items were booked into the evidence vault at theMesquiteDetentionCenter.
n Property damage, non-vandalism: July 5 -- Officer investigated a non-injury accident in aWest Pioneer Boulevard parking lot.
n Burglary: July 5 -- Officers responded to aMesa Boulevard residence for a possible burglary. Officer conducted the investigation and is currently attempting to locate any and all suspect (s) involved with the burglary.
n Traffic accident without injury: July 5 -- Officers responded to a traffic accident onWest Pioneer Boulevard. A vehicle had collided into a palm tree, causing damage to the vehicle and tree. The driver received no injuries. A report was taken for the accident.
n Controlled substance problem: July 6 -- A Mesquite police officer stopped a northbound vehicle on Interstate 15 for an equipment violation. Subsequent to a K9 drug alert and vehicle search, the driver was cited and released for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
n Traffic accident with damage: July 6 -- Officers responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident at East First North Street anNorth Sandhill Boulevard. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. There were no injuries. One adult female was issued two traffic citations. A report was taken for the collision.
n Wanted person: July 6 -- Officer made contact with an adult male at anEast Pioneer Boulevard casino. The male had an active warrant out of Mesquite Municipal Court, and found to be trespassed at the casino. Officer arrested the male for the warrant and trespass violation and transported him to theMesquiteDetentionCenter.
n Traffic accident with damage: July 6 -- Accident report taken, reference a two-vehicle, private-property accident with no injuries in the parking lot of the Virgin River Casino East Pioneer Boulevard. A Driver Exchange Form was completed with both drivers receiving a copy.
n Theft: July 7 -- Officer responded to theEast Pioneer Boulevard parking lot of a local casino, reference theft of property from a vehicle. A theft report was taken and the incident is being investigated.
n Property damage, non-vandalism: July 7 -- An officer was dispatched to aWest Mesquite Boulevard casino, in reference to some property damage. A portion of fence was knocked over by an unknown vehicle.
n Battery on person: July 7 -- Police responded to a injured person atMesaViewHospital. A female adult stated she got into a physical altercation with another female in Bunkerville. A report was taken for the incident and Officers are currently attempting to locate the suspect and witnesses.
n Suspicious person/circumstance: July 7 -- Officer responded to aCopper Springs Drive residence, reference a suspicious circumstances. Officer documented the incident.
n Recovered stolen property: July 7 -- Recovered stolen firearm at pawn store onWest Mesquite Boulevard. Reported stolen out ofSt. George,Utah.
n Disorderly conduct: July 7 -- Officer's were dispatched to the Eureka Casino Resort onMesa Boulevard for a report of a disorderly male patron. Officers investigated the incident and the male subject was taken into custody and transported the theMesquiteDetentionCenter with no further incident.
n Noise disturbance: July 7 -- Officers were dispatched to aLeavitt Lane residence, in reference to a noise complaint. Written statements were collected and the matter will be forwarded to the City Attorney's Office.
n Suspicious person/circumstance: July 7 -- Officer responded to the Eureka Casino Resort for a report of suspicious activity between a male and female located at the casino bar. Both parties were questioned and the male was arrest for possession of a controlled substance.
