Police Department Blotter, August 4-12, 2012

Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for Aug. 4-11. Individuals listed here should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
 

n      Property damage, non-vandalism: Aug. 5 -- An officer responded to a damaged window at the police department.

n      Suicidal person: Aug. 5 -- Mesquite officers responded to a local office building reference a citizen assist. Mesquite Police Officer transported the adult female to Mesa View Hospital for treatment.

n      Found Property: Aug. 5 -- A black-and-gray duffel bag containing clothing and personal papers was turned into the police department. The bag was placed in safe keeping as found property.

n      Hit and run: Aug. 5 -- Mesquite Officers responded to an East Pioneer Boulevard parking lot, reference a hit-and-run traffic collision. A parked vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

n      Suspicious person/circumstance: Aug. 5 -- An officer was dispatched to meet with a female at a Riverside Road discount store regarding suspicious behavior.  The female was arrested on drug paraphernalia charges.

n      Controlled-substance problem: Aug. 5 -- Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Smokey and Pulsipher lanes for an equipment violation. The adult male driver was issued a traffic citation.  The adult male passenger was found to be in possession of marijuana and was arrested.

n      Threatening: Aug. 5 -- Officers were dispatched to a Moss Drive apartment complex regarding threats being made.  Officers made contact with the complainant and suspect and determined the situation was a civil issue.  The adult male suspect had active warrants for his arrest and was transported to the Mesquite Detention Center and held for transportation on the warrants.

n      Battery on person: Aug. 6 -- Officers responded to a West Mesquite Boulevard casino parking lot for a report of a battery. Two arrest were made.

n      Minor gambling: Aug. 6 -- An officer responded to a casino on East Pioneer Boulevard for a report of a minor gambling. An arrest was made.

n      Traffic stop: Aug. 6 -- An officer conducted a traffic stop at West Pioneer Boulevard and Siena Lane. The driver was issued a citation and arrested for an outstanding warrant.

n      DUI: Aug. 6 -- Mesquite officers responded to a local neighborhood reference a reckless driver. Mesquite officers stopped the vehicle at Cottonwood Drive and East Old Mill Road and conducted field sobriety tests on the driver. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.

n      Traffic Violation: Aug. 6 -- Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation. The adult male driver was in possession of an open container of alcohol.  The male was arrested for open container and other traffic offenses.

n      Domestic trouble: Aug. 6 -- Officers responded to a Mesquite Springs Drive residence, reference a domestic dispute. Contact was made with an adult male and female who had a verbal argument.  Officers determined no battery had occurred.  Both subjects did not want to leave the residence and stated there would be no further problems.

n      Controlled-substance problem: Aug. 7 -- Officers responded to a neighborhood reference a possible prowler. Officers contacted a juvenile male walking at Mesa Boulevard and El Dorado Road. The male was in possession of marijuana and was issued a citation.

n      Suspicious person/circumstance: Aug. 7 -- Officers responded to a South Grapevine Road residence, reference a suspicious incident.  A juvenile female reported a friend made possible suicidal comments to her. Officers contacted the adult male and confirmed he was not suicidal or in need of a mental evaluation.

n      Controlled-substance problem: Aug 7 -- Officers conducted a traffic stop on a southbound motor vehicle on Interstate 15 for failing to maintain their travel lane. During the stop officers gained consent to search the vehicle from the driver. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

n      Controlled-substance problem: Aug. 7 -- An officer stopped a northbound vehicle on Interstate 15 for a traffic offense.  The driver was cited and released for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

n      Keep the peace: Aug. 8 -- Officers responded to a Wigwam Street residence for a civil stand by. Officers remained on scene until all items were collected.

n      Fraud: Aug. 8 -- Officers responded to a fraud report at a West Mesquite Boulevard bank. A local citizen had received a fraudulent check in the mail and was attempting to deposit the check. A report was taken for the incident.

n      Theft: Aug. 8 -- Officer responded to a North Sandhill Boulevard gas station, reference theft. Officer is currently attempting to locate the suspect involved.

n      Traffic accident without injury: Aug. 8 -- Police responded to a local business in reference a two car vehicle accident. There were no injuries and moderate damage done to both vehicles. An investigation was conducted.

n      Wanted person: Aug. 8 -- Officer made contact with a male on West First North Street. A records check revealed the male had three active misdemeanor warrants out of Mesquite Municipal Court. The male was arrested and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.

n      Theft: Aug. 8 -- Police responded to a report of a theft at a West Pioneer Boulevard store. A small purse had been stolen from a shopping cart as the customer was shopping. A report was taken for the crime and officers are currently attempting to locate the suspect(s).

n      Traffic accident without injury: Aug. 8 -- Officers responded at to an accident on Juniper Way involving two vehicles with negative injuries.

n      Trespassing: Aug. 9 -- Police responded to a report of a trespass violator at an East Pioneer Boulevard casino. One adult male was issued a citation for trespassing and released.

n      Theft, bicycle: Aug. 9 -- Officer responded to a parking lot on North Arrowhead Lane, reference a stolen bicycle. Officer is currently attempting to locate the suspect (s) involved with the stolen bicycle.

n      Graffiti: Aug. 9 -- Officer is currently investigating a graffiti incident on Second North Street.

n      Agency assistance: Aug. 9 -- Officer had probable cause to arrest an adult male for sales of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Officer made contact with the male on East Pioneer Boulevard and arrested him without incident. The male was transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.

n      Dead body: Aug. 9 -- Officers responded to an East Pioneer Boulevard Hotel for a report of a deceased male.

n      Wanted person: Aug. 10 -- Arrested one adult male at Las Vegas City Jail in Las Vegas. The individual was transported to Mesquite Detention Center and booked without incident.

n      Theft: Aug. 10 -- Officer responded to a Mesa Boulevard business for a report of a theft. A report was taken and the investigation continues.

n      Vandalism: Aug. 10 -- Officers were dispatched to a Joshua Ridge Drive subdivision's shared pool area for a report of vandalism to a pool bathroom.

n      Civil dispute: Aug. 10 -- Officers were dispatched to a Riverside Road apartment complex, in reference to a fight in progress.  It was later determined that there had only been a verbal argument.

n      Agency assistance: Aug.10 -- Officers assisted Mesquite Fire and Rescue on a medical call on Mesa Boulevard.

n      Dead body: Aug. 11 -- Officers responded to a Saguaro Way residence for a natural death investigation.

n      DUI: Aug. 11 -- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle and following an investigation an adult female was taken into custody for driving under the influence and traffic offenses.

n      Traffic accident with damage: Aug. 11 -- An Officer was dispatched to a West Mesquite Boulevard business parking lot to take a report of a vehicle accident  with a light pole.  The Officer gathered information from the driver regarding the incident and completed a report.

n      Battery on person: Aug. 11 -- Officers were dispatch to an Osprey Street residence for a report of a fight. During the investigation officers learned the male violated a no drinking clause. Per the court order the male subject was arrested. The subject was also issued a citation for battery.

n      Traffic violation: Aug. 11 -- An officer stopped a vehicle on Eagle Street for a driver’s license violation in a local subdivision.  The officer arrested the driver and transported him to the Mesquite Detention Center.  The driver was charged with non-resident suspended drivers license.  The driver also had two active warrants for his arrest.

n      Business or license problem: Aug. 11 -- Officers responded to a neighborhood reference two suspicious males selling magazines on Pinehurst Drive. Officers contacted two adult males who were selling magazines without a required permit. Both males were arrested for selling without a business permit.

n      Fighting: Aug. 11 -- While on routine patrol officer observed one male juvenile and one male adult actively fighting at West Pioneer Boulevard and North Grapevine Road. The male juvenile was cited and released for affray, while the male adult was arrested for affray and obstruction of justice.

n      Trespassing: Aug. 11 -- Officers responded to an East Pioneer Boulevard service station regarding a trespassing incident on an intoxicated person.  Officers contacted an adult male and arrested the individual for trespassing.

n      Suspicious person/circumstance: Aug. 12 -- Officers responded to a local casino to receive information from a citizen regarding a possible intoxicated juvenile.  Officers located the juvenile at his residence and he appeared to be intoxicated on some type of hallucinogen.  The juvenile was transported via ambulance to the hospital.  Officers then checked on the residence where the juvenile became intoxicated.  Officers arrested a male at that Desert Winds Way residence for obstructing an officer.

n      Domestic trouble: Aug. 12 -- Officers responded to an Aztec Circle residence, reference a domestic incident. An adult female and an adult male had a verbal argument.  Officers were unable to determine if a battery occurred.  Both individuals lived in different residences and were separated.
