Editor’s Note: the following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for Sept. 23-29, 2012.
Intoxicated person: Sept. 23 -- Officers responded to a West Mesquite Boulevard convenience store at 8:03 a.m. reference an intoxicated female. Female was intoxicated and was unable to take care of herself or find anyone who would be able to. She was placed into civil protective custody until she could sober up.
Traffic violation: Sept. 23 -- An officer initiated a traffic stop on Pinnacle Circle at 2:06 p.m. The driver of the vehicle attempted to elude the officer and was later placed under arrest for traffic-related offenses.
Suspicious person/circumstance: Sept 23 -- Police responded to a suspicious incident on Hafen Lane at 5:33 p.m. The officer's investigation revealed individuals were attempting to manufacture illegal substances in an empty structure. Officers located two suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
Trespassing: Sept. 23 -- Police were called to the Partridge Lane neighborhood at 7:58 p.m. reference a male running through back yards. Upon arrival police found the suspect hiding inside a RV which was parked in the driveway of a residence. The male was arrested for trespassing.
Trespassing: Sept. 23 -- An officer made contact at 11:41 p.m. with persons staying at the Virgin Valley Casino on East Pioneer Boulevard. A male subject had been trespassed prior from the casino. Casino security requested the male subject be charged with trespassing. The male was arrested for trespassing.
Trespassing: Sept 24 -- A Quail Run resident contacted the police at 2:25 a.m. about an adult male who had run through their backyard. The complainant identified the suspect who had been detained by police and requested to sign a complaint. The male was arrested for trespassing.
Agency assistance: Sept. 24 -- Responded at 10:28 a.m. on a request from the fire department to assist with a medical call on East Pioneer Boulevard.
Theft: Sept. 24 -- A citizen at 1:03 p.m. reported his cell phone had been stolen while at the Eureka Casino Resort on Mesa Boulevard. Citizen reported he was able to locate the phone by the tracking program.
Traffic accident without injury: Sept. 24 -- Police responded at 1:36 p.m. to a traffic accident at West Mesquite Boulevard with West Falcon Ridge Parkway. One vehicle obtained minor damage and was towed from the scene. A report was taken for the collision and one adult male was issued a citation for a moving violation. No injuries were reported.
Property damage, non-vandalism: Sept. 24 -- Police were called to a Lewis Street residence at 6:20 p.m. to investigate property vandalism. Citizen showed the investigating officer a broken glass table and vase, which they claim was broken by an unknown individual. The result of the investigation could not determine how it was broken.
Weapon offense: Sept. 24 -- Officers were dispatched to the Moss Drive apartment complex at 6:53 p.m. to investigate a possible assault with a deadly weapon. Subsequent to interviewing witnesses the victim and suspect, officers discovered probable cause to believe the suspect threatened the victim with a knife. The suspect was arrested and charged with drawing a deadly weapon in threatening manner.
Traffic violation: Sept. 25 -- An officer stopped a vehicle at 12:51 a.m. for a driver license violation at West Mesquite Boulevard and Woodbury Lane. The driver was arrested for being an unlicensed driver, due to having active traffic arrest warrants. The driver's mother took custody of the vehicle.
Civil matter: Sept. 25 -- Officers were dispatched at 11:09 a.m. to a civil situation involving a vehicle. After several stories from the parties involved at the Mesquite Police Department on Mayan Circle, it was still determined to be a civil situation.
Suspicious person/circumstance: Sept. 25 -- Officers responded to Mesa View Quick Care on Bertha Howe Avenue at 1:39 p.m. reference a patient with a minor knife wound. Upon investigation it was determined the patient had cut himself on accident.
Threatening: Sept. 25 -- A customer at a West Mesquite Boulevard bank made abusive and loud remarks to employees. An officer was contacted at 2:11 p.m. to document the incident.
Stolen property: Sept 25 -- An adult male who came into the Mesquite Police Department on Mayan Circle at 2:34 p.m. reported the handicap sticker issued to him from Ohio DMV had been stolen from his vehicle.
Citizen assist: Sept. 25 -- An officer spoke to a complainant at 5:38 p.m. at the Mesquite Police Department on Mayan Circle in reference to a civil matter concerning child support and custody.
Domestic trouble: Sept. 25 -- Officers responded to domestic battery incident at 11:51 p.m., involving two adult females on Desert Drive. One female was arrested for committing domestic battery on the other.
Burglary: Sept. 26 -- Police were called to a Lonesome Dove Drive residence at 12:52 a.m., for a report of a home invasion. The reporting person stated a male had entered their home then fled. The caller gave a description of the male and direction of travel. Police found the male and took him into custody.
Suspicious Person/Circumstance: Sept. 26 -- Officer responded to a local service station at 10:23 a.m., reference a counterfeit $100 dollars bill. Officer recovered the bill and will forward the bill to the Secret Service for further investigation.
Traffic violation: Sept. 26 -- An officer conducted a traffic stop at 11:02 p.m. on a motor vehicle for driving without headlights on North Sandhill Boulevard. During the course of an investigation, the driver fled the scene and was later taken into custody in Arizona.
Follow up investigation: Sept. 27 -- Officer was at the Mesquite Police Department on Mayan Circle at 9:55 a.m. where he questioned an adult male regarding a burglary. The male was adamant that he was not involved with the burglary. Investigation continues.
Traffic accident without injury: Sept. 27 -- Officer took a West Old Mill Road traffic accident report at 1:30 p.m. with no reported injuries.
Suspicious person: Sept. 27 -- Officers responded at 1:56 p.m. to an East Pioneer Boulevard parking lot, reference an intoxicated male passed out. Officers determined the male subject was too intoxicated to safely care for himself and placed the male into Civil Protective Custody.
Stolen vehicle: Sept. 27 -- An officer responded to a West Mesquite Boulevard sports bar at 6:21 p.m. for a report of a stolen vehicle. A report was taken and an investigation is underway.
Animal complaint: Sept. 27 -- Animal Control Officer responded to a Blackfoot Street address at 6:47 p.m. regarding a canine chasing a home owner into his garage in a very aggressive manor. Owners were cited for having no proof of rabies and for permitting their canine to run at large.
Wanted person: Sept. 27 -- Officers located and arrested a male on East Pioneer Boulevard at 8:13 p.m. who had a warrant out of Mesquite Municipal Court.
Driving under the influence: Sept. 27 -- An officer conducted a traffic stop at 11:10 p.m. on a vehicle for failure to maintain travel lane at Riverside Road and Second South Street. Following an investigation, two adult males were taken into custody for alcohol related offenses and one adult had an active warrant.
Disorderly conduct: Sept. 28 -- Officer's responded to a Milky Way residence at 6:07 a.m., reference an intoxicated adult male attempting to climb over the back fence of a local residence. Officer's made contact with the male who resisted arrest. Officer's were able to place the male into custody without further incident. The male was transported to the Mesquite Detention Center, where he was charged with breach of peace and resisting arrest.
Theft: Sept. 28 -- Officer responded to an East First South Street residence at 9:11 a.m., reference a report of missing or stolen prescription medications. A report was taken and information gathered concerning the missing medications. The incident is currently under investigation.
Wanted Person: Sept. 28 -- Officer made contact with an adult female at 9:44 a.m. on North Sandhill Boulevard with an active warrant out Mesquite Justice Court. The warrant was confirmed with transportation. The female was arrested and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.
Citizen assist: Sept. 28 -- Officer responded to a Ronnie Way residence at 1:55 p.m., reference a complaint of an adult male at the residence, causing problems. The male was read the trespass warning, by the home owner, and the male left the residence without further incident.
Property damage, non-vandalism: Sept. 28 -- An officer responded to a Mesquite Springs Drive condominium complex at 5:54 p.m. for a report of property damage caused by a vehicle. A report was taken and the incident referred to the property management company.
Lost property: Sept. 28 -- Officers spoke with a male at 6:12 p.m. on Palm Cove Court concerning a license plate which was missing. The subject was advised that he needed to contact DMV reference a new plate.
Burglary: Sept. 28 -- Officers responded to a Mesquite Springs Drive residence at 9:55 p.m. for a theft report. An investigation is underway.
Traffic accident with damage: Sept. 29 -- Officer responded at 1:50 p.m. to the area of I-15, at the 122 southbound off ramp, reference a two-vehicle accident, resulting in minor damage to the rear bumper on one of the involved vehicles. The driver of the vehicle's had exchanged insurance information prior to the officer's arrival.
Trespassing: Sept. 29 -- An officer was dispatched to a West Mesquite Boulevard casino at 2:50 p.m. reference a trespassing. A records check revealed the subject had previously been trespassed. The subject was taken into custody for trespassing.
