Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for July 8-14. Individuals listed here should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Burglary: July 8 -- An officer responded to an Appletree Laneresidence for a report of a burglary. A report was taken and an investigation is underway.
Traffic accident without injury: July 8 -- Officers responded to a traffic collision at the East Mesquite and North Sandhill boulevards intersection. One of the drivers was transported to the hospital. Photographs and information were obtained. The at-fault driver was issued citations.
Intoxicated person: July 8 -- Officers responded to the Virgin River Casino on East Pioneer Boulevard for a report of disorderly intoxicated subjects. Upon arrival officers had to deal with disorderly and resistive subjects. The casino signed citations for breach of peace. Subjects were taken into custody for the safety of others and themselves.
Wanted person: July 8 -- A Mesquite police officer stopped a vehicle on North Grapevine Road for a traffic sign violation. The officer arrested the driver for an active arrest warrant out of Mesquite Justice Court.
Traffic stop: July 8 -- Officer witnessed a traffic violation on North Sandhill Boulevard and stopped the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle had an active warrant from Nevada Highway Patrol. NHP requested the female be arrested on the warrant.
Traffic accident without injury: July 9 -- Officers were dispatched to East Mesquite and North Sandhill boulevards reference a traffic collision. Officers arrived and confirmed no injuries occurred. A report was taken and citations were issued. Both vehicles were driven away by the owners.
Citizen dispute: July 9 -- Officer was dispatched to the front lobby of the police department reference a harassment report. Subject wanted to report an incident that had occurred over the weekend on West Mesquite Boulevard. The investigation is ongoing.
Lost property: July 9 -- An officer was dispatched to a Riverside Roadresidence, reference lost prescribed medication. The officer contacted the adult male complainant and learned the circumstances of the call. The complainant requested the incident be documented.
Controlled substance problem: July 9 -- Officers responded to the parking lot of a North Sandhill Boulevard business, reference a suspected DUI driver. Officers contacted the adult female driver of the vehicle. A drug dog sniff of the vehicle was performed and the female was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The female was issued a citation for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
Wanted person: July 9 -- Officers were dispatched to an East First South Street residence, reference a possible trespassing incident. Officers contacted three subjects and requested a wants check. One female had an active arrest warrant and was taken into custody.
Burglary: July 10 -- An officer responded to a North Arrowhead Lanebusiness for a report of an attempted vehicle burglary. A report was taken and an investigation is underway.
Theft: July 10 -- An officer responded to an Orion Lane residence for a report of stolen jewelry. A report was taken and an investigation is underway.
Fraud: July 10 -- An officer took a phone report of unauthorized bank charges from an adult female. A report was taken.
Traffic accident without injury: July 10 -- Officers responded to a gas station for a vehicle collision. Information was obtained and exchanged between parties.
Fatal traffic accident: July 10 -- Officers responded to a traffic accident on Interstate 15-southbound. Officers arrived on scene and confirmed the accident was a fatal collision. Mesquite Officers secured the roadway and Nevada Highway Patrol completed the accident investigation.
Petit larceny: July 11 -- Police responded to a petit larceny at a West Mesquite Boulevard store. A female adult exchanged an un-purchased item for cash. A report was taken for the incident and officers are currently attempting to locate the suspect.
Theft: July 11 -- Officer's responded to an East Old Mill Roadapartment complex manager's officer for a report of a theft.
Domestic trouble: July 11 -- Police responded to a verbal dispute on West First North Street. Upon investigation officers were unable to determine if a battery had taken place. A report was taken for the incident.
Domestic trouble: July 11 -- Officers responded to a local residence reference a domestic disturbance. Officers later arrested the male half for domestic violence.
Traffic accident, with injuries: July 11 -- Officers responded to a Mesa Boulevard apartment complex reference a male pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle as it backed out of a parking stall. The male was transported to Mesa View Hospital with minor injuries.
Traffic accident without injury: July 11 -- Officer responded to the Virgin River Casino on East Pioneer Boulevard reference an accident involving two vehicles. One of the drivers was issued a citation for not having a valid drivers license.
Traffic accident without injury: July 12 -- Officers received information, via telephone, of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident, which occurred in a West Pioneer Boulevard parking lot.
Property damage, non-vandalism: July 12 -- Police were called to investigate property damage at a West Mesquite Boulevard casino which involved a car door opening into another parked vehicle.
Fraud: July 12 -- An officer responded to the police station lobby for a report of credit card fraud.
Suspicious person/circumstance: July 12 -- Police were called to aSilver Road residence to investigate an attempted force entry on a local residence.
Indecent exposure: July 12 -- Officers responded to a Turtleback Road business for a report of a possible indecent exposure. Officers conducted an investigation and a subject was cited and released with a court date.
Burglary: July 12 -- Police responded to a possible burglary at a Mesa Boulevard residence. Upon investigation it was determined no items were stolen. A report was taken for the incident. Officers are currently attempting to locate the suspect(s).
Wanted person: July 12 -- Adult female arrived at the MesquiteDetention Center on Hillside Drive to turn herself in on a Mesquite Municipal Court warrant. Adult female was arrested and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Wanted person: July 12 -- Officers located an adult female subject onHoneysuckle Court with an active Mesquite Municipal Court bench warrant. The female subject was arrested on the aforementioned warrant.
Wanted person: July 13 -- Officers located an adult male subject onNorth Yucca Street with two active bench warrants issued by the Municipal Court of Mesquite. The male subject was arrested for the aforementioned warrants.
Indecent exposure: July 13 -- Officer responded to an East Pioneer Boulevard casino, reference a report of indecent exposure. The male offender was located and placed under arrest for exposing himself to another person.
Controlled substance problem: July 13 -- Police responded to a minor gambling at an East Pioneer Boulevard casino. During investigation several prescription pills were located in possession of one adult female. The female was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and minor gambling. The female was transported to theMesquite Detention Center, where she awaits transportation to theClark County Detention Center.
Agency assistance: July 13 -- Officers were contacted by Cedar City,Utah, Detective Bureau, reference stolen checks being cashed at a local business.
Suspicious person/circumstance: July 13 -- Officer responded to a local residence, reference a suspicious circumstance. The incident has been documented.
Suspicious person/circumstance: July 13 -- Police responded to a suspicious situation at a West Mesquite Boulevard casino. An adult male had attempted to deposit a cashier's check and left the casino prior to the transaction being completed. Officers recovered the check and are currently attempting to locate the owner.
Recovered stolen property: Police responded to a report of a stolen iPod located at a local pawn shop. The iPod was recovered and booked into the evidence vault at the Mesquite Detention Center. Officers are currently attempting to locate the suspect.
Trespassing: July 13 -- A local female juvenile was caught trespassing at a West Mesquite Boulevard gas station. The female juvenile received a trespass citation and was released to her guardian.
Reckless driver: July 13 -- An officer was dispatched to an East Pioneer Boulevard gas station, in reference to a reckless driver. The reckless driver, an adult female subject, was located in the parking lot. After an investigation, this person was later arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, drug trafficking-methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Domestic trouble: July 13 -- Officers responded to a Mesa Boulevardapartment complex, for a report of a domestic battery incident. Officers located and spoke with an intoxicated male and female. The male subject was arrest and transported to Mesquite Detention Facility for domestic battery.
Trespassing: July 14 -- Officers responded to an East Pioneer Boulevard casino referencing a trespass violator. After verifying the identity of the subject he was arrested on the aforementioned violation.
Civil matter: July 14 -- Mesquite Officer met with a male subject at the police department on Mayan Circle regarding a civil matter. The officer also spoke with the female regarding the situation.
Suspicious/person: July 14 -- An officer responded to a West Pioneer Boulevard shopping center reference unwanted solicitation handouts. Property manager requested the materials be collected by the solicitors and they refrain from further distribution.
TPO violation: July 14 -- An officer responded to a Mesa Boulevardresidence for a report of a temporary protective order violation. A report was taken and an investigation continues.
Wanted person: July 14 -- While doing a routine business check onNorth Sandhill Boulevard, an officer recognized an adult male who had an outstanding warrant. The warrant was confirmed and the individual was taken into custody without incident.
Wanted person: July 14 -- An officer responded to a West Mesquite Boulevard residence regarding an outstanding warrant. The warrant was confirmed and an adult male was taken into custody.
Lost property: July 14 -- An officer responded to a Leavitt Laneresidence for a report of lost property. A report was taken.
TPO violation: July 14 -- An officer was dispatched to Mesa Boulevardresidence, reference a violation of a temporary protection order. The officer contacted the complainant and received the information. The incident was attached with a prior offense.
Hit & run: July 14 -- An officer was dispatched to a West Mesquite Boulevard casino at 7:03 p.m. to take a report of an unoccupied parked vehicle, which had been struck in the parking lot. There are no known witnesses or suspects at this time.
Hit & run: July 14 -- A Mesquite police officer was dispatched to aWest Mesquite Boulevard casino at 8:38 p.m. regarding an unoccupied vehicle being struck by another vehicle in the parking lot. There are no known witness or suspects at this time. Investigation continues pending casino surveillance.
Minor gambling: July 14 -- An officer was dispatched to a East Pioneer Boulevard casino, reference a minor gambling. The officer contacted the subject, who was under the age of 21. Hotel security requested to sign a citation for minor gambling.
Controlled substance problem: July 14 -- Officer stopped a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 15. Subsequent to a vehicle search the cooperative male adult driver was cited and released for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
