Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for July 29-Aug. 4. Individuals listed here should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Suspicious person/circumstance: July 29 -- Officers responded to a Desert Drive residence to meet with a citizen who wanted to report some suspicious activity which had occurred earlier in the night and again at his residence. Officers gathered information from the complainant regarding the circumstances of both incidents and checked the area for possible suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
Theft: July 29 -- Officers responded to the Eureka casino on Mesa Boulevard reference a theft report. An adult female reported she lost her wallet in the casino and it was stolen. Officers completed a theft report and the investigation is ongoing.
Intoxicated person: July 29 -- An officer responded to a West Pioneer Boulevard casino for a disorderly adult male. Due to level of intoxication and no one available to take custody of the individual, the adult male was taken into Civil Protective Custody, until he could sober up.
Keep the peace: July 29 -- Officer responded to a Pinehurst Drive address on a civil matter. It was explained several times that for any evictions the constable would have to be contacted in order to initiate the process.
Controlled substance problem: July 29 -- Officers responded to a report of possible drug use in a vehicle at a local restaurant on Falcon Ridge Parkway. An investigation resulted in two arrests of adult males for use of inhalants.
Citizen assist: July 29 -- An officer met with an adult male about domestic issues and possible illegal activity in his Wigwam Street home.
Trespassing: July 29 -- Officers responded to a North Sandhill Boulevard convenience store reference a trespass violator. On officers arrival the complainant requested to sign a citation against the offender for violation of trespass. The citation was served against the offender.
Theft: July 29 -- Officer responded to a local volunteer agency on North Yucca Street for a report of theft. A report was taken.
Vandalism: July 29 -- An officer responded to a Santa Maria Way residence for a report of vehicle vandalism. A report was taken and an investigation is underway.
Found property: July 29 -- Officers responded to the police department, reference found property. An adult female located a wallet containing several items on Riverside Road. Officers were unable to locate the owner of the wallet and it was placed into found property.
Trespassing: July 30 -- Officers responded to the Virgin River Casino on East Pioneer Boulevard, reference a trespass incident. Officers contacted an adult male who returned to the property after being trespassed. The male was arrested for trespassing.
Driving under the influence: July 30 -- An officer responded to an East Pioneer Boulevard casino for a property damage report. Following an investigation, an adult female was taken into custody for DUI and trespassing.
Fraud: July 30 -- A Hughes Avenue resident called in reporting an attempted telephone fraud. Citizen was concerned caller wanted her to purchase cash packs and would send a runner to pick them up at her residence. Citizen advised she said she would check with the police first. Caller never called back.
Juvenile problem: July 30 -- An officer responded to a Riverside Road residence for a juvenile problem. After speaking with the complainant, he decided not to press charges against the juvenile.
TPO violation: July 30 -- An officer responded to the city detention facility for a Temporary Protection Order violation. An adult male was charged with the violation and remains in custody.
Controlled substance problem: July 30 -- Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Second South Street and Thompson Drive for an equipment violation. The adult male driver was found to be in possession of marijuana. The male was arrested for possession of marijuana and no proof of insurance.
Theft: July 30 -- Officers responded to a Riverside Road residence, reference a theft report. An adult female reported she was missing prescription medications. A possible suspect was contacted and the investigation is ongoing.
Driving under the influence: July 30 -- An officer stopped a northbound vehicle on Interstate 15 for a traffic and equipment violation. The driver was found to be impaired beyond his ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. He was arrested for driving under the influence of prescription medications, and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Traffic accident with damage: July 31 -- An officer responded to a North Sandhill Boulevard parking lot of a local supermarket for a minor fender bender. A drivers’ exchange of information was completed.
Citizen assist: July 31 -- Citizen requested a police report for an on going harassment/threatening issue he has with another resident in his HOA. HOA is aware of incidents and requested this citizen to obtain a report for a matter of record.
Petit larceny: Aug. 1 -- Officers responded to an East Pioneer Boulevard convenience store for a report of a Petit Larceny. A report was taken.
Graffiti: Aug. 1 -- Officers were dispatched to Pulsipher Park on Second South Street for a report of graffiti being placed on several items within the park.
Fraud: Aug. 1 -- An officer responded to the police department lobby reference a fraud report. Upon investigation it was determined the crime occurred in another state. A report was taken for the incident and forwarded to the investigating jurisdiction.
Wanted person: Aug. 1 -- Officer made contact with a male on Desert Winds Way who had an active felony warrant out of Mesquite Justice Court. The male was arrested without incident and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.
Fighting: Aug. 1 -- Officers responded to a Vineyard Lane residence, reference a report of a fight between males. Officers learned a domestic situation had also occurred. The male suspect had fled the area, prior to officer's arrival. Attempt to locate the male are ongoing.
Suspicious person/circumstance: Aug. 2 -- Officers made contact with a possible wanted person at a local casino on East Pioneer Boulevard. Officers arrested a male subject who had two warrants for his arrest and booked him into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Minor gambling: Aug. 2 -- An officer was dispatched to an East Pioneer Boulevard casino, in reference to a minor gambling. A juvenile was later cited and released, to his guardian, for minor gambling.
Graffiti: Aug. 2 -- Police responded to graffiti complaint at the Sun Valley Apartments on Sun Valley Drive. Multiple buildings and mailboxes were criminally damaged from the graffiti. A report was taken for the damage and officers are currently attempting to locate the suspect(s).
Fighting: Aug. 2 -- Officers responded to a park on Old Mill Road, reference a fight between two adult males. Prior to officers’ arrival, one of the males fled the scene. Officers are currently investigation the incident.
Property damage, non-vandalism: Aug. 3 -- Officers responded to the rear parking lot of Mesa View Hospital on Bertha Howe Ave., reference a broken main water line. The water line was shooting rocks in to the air, causing damage to six vehicles, parked in the immediate area. Information was gathered and a report was taken.
Driving under the influence: Aug. 4 -- Officers conducted a traffic stop on Pulsipher Lane on a local resident for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for the traffic offense and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Theft: Aug. 3 -- Officer took a report of a theft, which occurred at a Pinehurst Drive residence. Officer is currently investigating the alleged theft.
Found property: Aug. 3 -- Citizen found a wallet on Mesquite Boulevard near the Oasis skywalk. Owner has been notified.
Threatening: Aug. 3 -- Officer received information regarding threats made at a Riverside Road location. Officer obtained the information and forwarded the incident to the detectives for further investigation into the alleged threats.
Fighting: Aug. 4 -- Officers were dispatched to a Riverside Road residence for a report of a several individuals fighting. Officers determined a crime had occurred and two individuals were taken into custody and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Hit and run: Aug. 4 -- Officers responded to the Eureka Casino Resort for a report of a property damage accident. A report was taken for insurance purposes.
Property damage, non-vandalism: Aug. 4 -- Officers responded to the Eureka Casino Resort on Mesa Boulevard for a report of damage to a vehicle. A report was taken for insurance purposes.
Theft: Aug. 4 -- Officers responded to the Mesquite Recreation Center on West Old Mill Road for report of a wallet and a cellular phone which were stolen.
Traffic stop: Aug. 4 -- Officers conducted a traffic stop at West Hafen Lane and Riverside Road and the driver was later arrested for a misdemeanor warrant.
