Editor’s note: The following was taken from the pages of the Mesquite Police Department blotter for Aug. 11-18. Individuals listed here should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Suspicious person/circumstance: Aug. 12 -- Officers responded to a local casino to receive information from a citizen regarding a possible intoxicated juvenile. Officers located the juvenile at his residence and he appeared to be intoxicated on some type of hallucinogen. The juvenile was transported via ambulance to the hospital. Officers then checked on the residence where the juvenile became intoxicated. Officers arrested a male at that Desert Winds Way residence for obstructing an officer.
Domestic trouble: Aug. 12 -- Officers responded to an Aztec Circle residence, reference a domestic incident. An adult female and an adult male had a verbal argument. Officers were unable to determine if a battery occurred. Both individuals lived in different residences and were separated.
Traffic accident with damage: Aug. 12 -- An officer responded to the parking lot of a East Pioneer restaurant for a minor vehicle collision. An exchange of information was completed.
Animal complaint: Aug. 12 -- An officer was dispatched to a parking lot on West Pioneer Boulevard for a report of four dogs left unattended in a vehicle, on a hot summer day. The owner of the animals was located and charged with animal cruelty.
Graffiti: Aug. 13 -- An officer was dispatched to Hafen Trailhead Park for a report of graffiti on a park bench. The officer took the report and forward it to city maintenance for repairs.
Phone harassment: Aug. 13 -- An officer made contact with an Arizona citizen on South Shivwits Drive in Scenic, Ariz., regarding harassing phone calls. The officer attempted to find the possible suspect in Mesquite City. The officer completed a report to be forwarded to Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
Business or license problem: Aug. 13 -- Officers responded to a complaint about a young male who was going door to door peddling, without a license. After an investigation an arrest for a felony arrest warrant and a misdemeanor arrest were made.
Theft-bicycle: Aug. 13 -- An officer took a report from a Condor Street resident of a bicycle that was taken without permission from his residence. An investigation is ongoing.
Traffic accident without injury: Aug. 13 -- An officer responded to West First South Street and Palm Drive where construction was being done in the roadway. A vehicle accident had occurred with a motor vehicle and a piece of construction equipment.
Fraud: Aug. 13 -- An officer met with a local resident on West Mesquite Boulevard about unauthorized use of his bank/ATM card. A report was taken and an investigation is ongoing.
Citizen assist: Aug. 13 -- Officers responded to the police station, reference a citizen assist. An adult male reported several firearms he lent to a male were missing. It is unknown if the guns are stolen and the investigation is ongoing.
Controlled substance problem: Aug. 14 -- An officer stopped a vehicle on North Sandhill Boulevard for an equipment violation and a traffic offense. The officers observed some indications to drug activity, and subsequent to an investigation the adult male driver was arrested for possession of marijuana. The two passengers were released with the vehicle.
TPO violation: Aug. 14 -- A citizen walked into the police lobby to report a temporary protection order violation.
Controlled substance problem: Aug. 14 -- An officer responded to a Turtleback Road residence for a report of suspicious activity. Following an investigation, an adult male was taken into custody on drug paraphernalia charges.
Mental person: Aug. 14 -- Officers were dispatched to West Hafen Lane and Riverside Road for a female walking in the roadway. Officer arrived and gave assistance to the female. Medical responded and transported her to the local hospital for medical reasons.
Trespassing: Aug. 14 -- Officers were dispatched to a Canyon Drive residence for a reported intoxicated male who refused to leave the reporting party's property. The male was contacted and arrested for trespassing.
Disorderly conduct: Aug. 15 -- Officers were dispatched to a local park on West Old Mill Road for a report of disorderly male subjects yelling and causing a disturbance. The officers arrived and were confronted by a male adult, who attempted to strike an officer with closed fist. The subject was taken to the ground and arrested.
Fighting: Aug. 15 -- Officers responded to a fight at a Riverside Road apartment complex. Officers made contact with witnesses and the parties involved. It was determined the fight was an argument, and possibly gang related.
Traffic accident without injury: Aug. 15 -- Officers responded to a non-injury traffic accident at West Mesquite Boulevard and North Grapevine Road. Officer completed a drivers exchange.
Citizen assist: Aug. 15 -- Officers received information regarding a possible missing juvenile out of Canada, Saskatchewan providence.
Intoxicated person: Aug. 16 -- Officers made contact with an intoxicated male in the roadway on East Pioneer Boulevard and placed him under arrest and booked him into Mesquite Detention Center.
Suspicious person/circumstance: Aug. 16 -- An officer stopped an adult male pedestrian in the roadway at West Mesquite Boulevard and North Arrowhead Lane. Adult male was taken into custody for being intoxicated in the roadway.
Wanted person: Aug. 16 -- An officer located an adult male with an active no bail warrant at Desert Willow Lane and Tamarix Way. The adult male was taken into custody without incident.
Traffic stop: Aug. 16 -- Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 15. The driver was arrested on traffic violations and the passenger was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Traffic stop: Aug. 16 -- Officer conducted a traffic stop at West Pioneer Boulevard and Turtleback Road for speeding and found the driver of the vehicle to be driving on a revoked Nevada Driver License. The driver was also found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol. The driver was arrested for the above mentioned violations.
Traffic accident without injury: Aug. 17 -- Officer responded to a two (2) vehicle, non-injury traffic accident at North Sandhill Boulevard and Interstate 15, northbound ramp at Exit 122. The driver at fault was issued a citation for due care.
Traffic accident without injury: Aug. 17 -- Police responded to a minor traffic collision in a local gas station parking lot on East Pioneer Boulevard. There were no injuries. A report was taken for the accident.
Property damage, non-vandalism: Aug. 17 -- Officers responded to a Riverside Road apartment complex, in reference to a property damage report.
Theft: Aug. 17 -- Officer responded to a West Mesquite Boulevard Casino, reference the theft of a slot machine, payout ticket, valued at $641.55. A suspect was identified and arrested for the theft.
Threatening: Aug. 17 -- An officer was dispatched to the Mesquite Police Department, in reference to a threat made to the reporting person. The reporting person completed a statement about a threat made to him, but refused to pursue charges and stated he just wanted it to be documented.
Battery on person: Aug. 17 -- Officers responded to a threatening call at the Summerwinds Apartments Complex on Riverside Road. Officers identified the subject but were unable to locate and arrest the offender until later that evening.
Trespassing: Aug. 17 -- Officers located a Hispanic male sitting outside a local fast food restaurant on East Pioneer Boulevard. The male had previously been trespassed from that location. The male was arrested for criminal trespassing.
Petit larceny: Aug. 17 -- Officers responded to a Riverside Road apartment complex reference theft. Upon arrival officers located the subject involved. The subject was arrested him for petit larceny and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Driving under the influence: Aug. 17 -- An officer was dispatched to locate a possible drunken driver. The reporting person, who was following the suspected drunken driver's vehicle, stated the suspect's vehicle was swerving all over the roadway and even driving onto the sidewalks. The officer located the suspect vehicle on Chaparral Drive and the driver was later arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.
Noise disturbance: Aug. 17 -- Officers responded to a noise complaint, at a Riverside Road apartment complex. The Complainant requested and signed a citation against the offending parties for Breach of Peace. The offending party was issued the citation and released with a Court date.
Minor gambling: Aug. 18 -- Officers responded to a local casino for a report of a minor gambling. Officers contacted the male suspect and after confirming he was under 21 years old, he was cited for minor gambling.
Trespassing: Aug. 18 -- Officers responded to the Vrigin River Casino referencing a trespass violator. Officers located, identified and arrested the male subject for the violation.
Traffic accident without injury: Aug. 18 -- An officer responded to a local intersection for a two-vehicle, non-injury accident. Following an investigation, the at-fault driver was cited and released.
Agency assistance: Aug. 18 -- Police located a runaway juvenile from another jurisdiction at a local casino with a male adult. The juvenile was transported to the Mesquite Detention Center, where she awaits transportation to Westcare in Las Vegas. The adult male was arrested for misdemeanor charges and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Domestic trouble: Aug. 18 -- An officer responded to a Moonbeam Way residence for a report of a domestic battery. Following an investigation, an adult female was taken into custody and booked into the Mesquite Detention Center.
Traffic accident, without injuries: Aug. 18 -- A black truck struck a white passenger vehicle at West Hafen Lane and Riverside Road. There were no injuries from this accident. One of the drivers was issued several citations.
Wanted person: Aug. 18 -- Officer made contact with a male with an active warrant out of Mesquite at West Mesquite Boulevard and North Grapevine Road. The male was arrested on the warrant and transported to the Mesquite Detention Center.
