School’s in session

Crossing guard Al “Sarge” Hunt escorts his wards across North Sandhill Boulevard at Old Mill Road as the 2012 fall school term began throughout Mesquite this week. The crossing guard hours have been extended this year. The volunteers will take up their duties from 7:45 a.m. until 9:15 a.m., weekdays. Hunt urges motorists to drive carefully now that children again are on the way to and from school. Motorists also will notice the frequent presence of Mesquite Police Department vehicles near the school crossing. Speed limits will strictly be enforced. Motorists also are reminded that they must come to a full stop when school busses are loading or unloading the young passengers and not proceed until the bus driver turns off the flashing lights.
