New traffic-control signs have been installed on West Mesquite and North Sandhill boulevards.

The signs have been placed at traffic openings in the medians.

“Please take a moment to become familiar with these signs and spread the news to your family, friends and neighbors,” Jeff Smith, public information officer for the Mesquite Police Department, told the MLN. “Police officers will be monitoring these locations and actively enforcing violations.”

Smith said the signs have been installed to improve public saftey.

“No left turn” signs, using the international logos, have been installed at 920 W. Mesquite Blvd., in front of McDonalds; 312 W. Mesquite Blvd., the exit near Los Lupes Mexican Restaurant; and 136 N. Sandhill Blvd., in front of Big O Tires. A “no U-turn” sign also was installed at 370 N. Sandhill Blvd., in front of Smith’s Express.

“The signs have been installed to help prevent any further accidents caused by unsafe acts,” Smith added.
