CasaBlanca Resort Packs A Punch With Tuff-N-Uff’s Mayhem In Mesquite MMA Event Aug. 18, Featuring The Winners Of Mesquite Gaming’s Mayhem In Mesquite Ring Girl Competition
Mark your calendars! Amateur mixed martial arts returns to Mesquite, Nev., on Sat., Aug. 18, when Tuff-N-Uff’s Mayhem in Mesquite event takes place inside the CasaBlanca Resort at 6 p.m.
The first Tuff-N-Uff event held at the CasaBlanca Resort since the Xtreme Combat Weekend in October 2009, Mayhem in Mesquite promises fans a chance to see some of the future stars of mixed martial arts up close and in action, with 13 fights on the card including a Super Heavyweight Title defense. Las Vegas’ Charles Williams (5-0) will go up against Jeremy Umland (2-0), who is traveling all the way from Verndale, Minn., to put on a show. Together, both undefeated super heavyweights weigh more than 600 pounds!
Also on the card are two women’s matches to help further the popularity and recognition that female MMA fighters deserve. Las Cruces, N.M.’s Tandra “Tundra” Lopez (1-0) will go up against Lake Forest, Calif.’s Rachael Cummins (1-2) for the 125-Pound Tournament Title after Cummins’ original opponent, Las Vegas’ Christine Ferea (2-0), got a concussion during training and couldn’t compete. Also in the 125-pound division, Las Vegas’ Jillian “Justice” Lybarger (4-4) will square off against Mesa, Ariz.’s Cortney Casey (3-1).
The results of Mayhem in Mesquite will have a direct effect on Tuff-N-Uff’s upcoming Festi-Brawl being held Sun., Sept. 2, at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, as the winner between Lopez and Cummins will defend her 125-Pound Tournament Title against the winner of the Lybarger/Casey fight.
Additionally, Mayhem in Mesquite will feature the winners of Mesquite Gaming’s Mayhem in Mesquite Ring Girl Competition. Three lucky winners were chosen by an expert panel of judges and crowd participation during the CasaPoolooza pool party on Aug. 11, based on their enthusiasm, personality and originality. Ten finalists were selected to compete for the honor of being one of the Mayhem in Mesquite ring girls based on photographs they submitted to Mesquite Gaming for the competition. The three Mayhem in Mesquite ring girls picked were awarded a two-night stay at the CasaBlanca Resort on Aug. 17 and 18, a $75 luxury spa service and a $50 food credit. They will also be given a $500 cash prize following the event.
“We're excited to bring MMA to other parts of the state to give other parts of Nevada an exciting, excellent night of fights to remember, and look forward to returning to Mesquite more regularly,” said Barry Meyer, president of Tuff-N-Uff Productions, Inc.
